It's 3 hours drive from Muscat along the coast road- tarmac all the way, but I don't know how long from Dubai, sorry. But just wanted to say that we stayed in the eco-hotel at the Scientific Center itself and it was really lovely (and very reasonable), then you are right on the spot for the night and early morning tour, rather than being in Sur or in a barasti hut, which would be REALLY hot this time of year. Enjoy!
