Glad you found her a home. Sadly so many people come on here looking for homes for their animals because they can't be bothered with them anymore. Merely a better explanation would have sufficed.

Thank you ladies for all your input. I am aware of the fact that people abandon animals and we are not this type of person no matter what we would ensure that the cat was well looked after or at the very worst case euthanised.
However I am happy to report that we have found her a very loving home and we are sure she will be very well looked after and cared for.
Just want to add that there are often circumstances that are beyond our control as Glengarioch wrote and yes Chocs01 where there is a will there is often a way but did anyone ever stop to think about the animal and the effect a big move may have on them. Especially in Angels case as when we moved villa it was traumatic enough for her, she would not survive a long distance move and would be scared to death. This is one of the major reasons we were looking for a home in Dubai as our children would have loved to take her with us, but we as parents know what is best for them and the animal.

True, however where there is a will there is always a way. I've known people find foster or temporary homes for their animals, then sent for them when they were able to.

None of us know your circumstances Gabsgirl, but all of us will tell you this is a REALLY bad time to try to re-home an animal. Unfortunately, all of the rescue groups and classifieds pages are already full of animals needing homes when along come all of the annual summer 'abandonments'. I'm sure you have no control over this timing, just keep in mind your chances of finding her a new home are very, very low. There are few enough homes as it is, and many people are planning their long summer break now.

You have a few choices...
- advertise her heavily and aggressively everywhere you can think of (vets, rescue groups, shop noticeboards, community notice boards and forums, talk about her to EVERY person you meet etc etc)
- BOOK NOW and pre-pay for boarding so she has somewhere safe to go when you leave until a home can be found or shipping can be arranged (at the same time, set aside money for her vet care). This may even be a sweetener for finding a new home. Someone *may* be prepared to adopt her if you have her summer care sorted and paid for.
- start NOW arranging for her transport to your new location or to a family member in your home country
- have her euthanised

I wish you luck, but it's time for tough decisions.

Gabsgirl, I will be very blunt and honest, if there is absolutely no way you can take the cat with you, you are going to find this neigh on impossible. There are already hundreds of cats looking for homes, just look at the shelters or on Dubizzle and this time of year is the absolute worst as it's when people abandon their animals.

Sadly so many people rescue cats then just leave them when they leave as in their opinion they've given the cat a few years of good life - sorry not good enough. You take on that animal, it's for life!

Ladies,

I am desperately looking for a home for our cat Angel.
Due to circumstances beyond our control we are leaving the UAE at the end of the month and she needs a family to take care of her.
She is a tortoise shell, that we rescued when we arrived five years ago. She is very affectionate and needs a family URGENTLY. Please if there is anyone who would like her or if you know of a safe haven I would be most appreciative as I dont know what else to do..... Please Please help
