uk driving licenceUK Driving Licence- Residency Requirement
For all of us who go back to the UK in the summer break, and hire a car, (or even drive your own or someone else’s car) this is important. Although you may have annually used your UK licence to rent a car, and had no problems with the car hire company, you are using your UK licence illegally. It is not the responsibility of the car hire company to give you this information, your licence carries a valid date, and is registered to a UK address, and that is really the only information they register. HOWEVER…. There is a residency requirement to use the UK licence, and living abroad, we do not meet it. Read More>>

british passportEmirates ID Card

All UAE residents need to have an Emirates ID Card. The ID card is an electronic means of identification that EIDA undertakes to issue for all population of U.A.E. It is mandatory for each national or expatriate person above 15 years old.
Coupled with sophisticated technological features, the ID card is a safe means for identification of residents and verification of their identities. It contains an ID number that links every individual to his/her own personal and biological lifetime data. The ID number serves as a reference for the respective individual in his/her identity-proved transactions with government bodies and some private organizations. It is expected that the ID card will, later, replace all currently applicable other identification means such as labour permit, health card, driving license, etc. Find Out More>>
etiquetteExpatWoman Guide to Abu Dhabi Etiquette
The UAE is a Muslim State, we must be aware at all times of the culture here and what is considered offensive or illegal behaviour. What is perfectly acceptable in our home country may be taken as abusive here. There are some things that are forbidden in the UAE, and although these rules are for us all, certainly locals and people here of the Muslim faith are very observant of these rules. Western expatriates, and in particular foreign tourists have been known to get into serious trouble for blatant disregard of these laws. It’s a good idea to know what these are, so you can be aware of your behaviour in public, and not cause offence… or worse. Find Out More>>
