Hash House Harriers Abu Dhabi

The Hash House Harriers was started in Kuala Lumpur (by some British) in 1938 and is now the largest running organisation in the world. (there are over 2 million hashers and 1990 hash groups registered in the world directory, located in 1300 cities in 185 countries) , it is easier than ever for you to find fun, trail, and friendship where you live. Hashing consists of following a course (which includes false trails) laid out by a couple of 'hares'. Running, jogging and walking are acceptable and the courses are varied and often cross country. ALL hash groups welcome new comers.

Hash House Harriers

The Hash House Harriers is a more social version of Hare and Hounds, where you join the pack of hounds (runners) to chase down the trail set by the hare or hares (other runners), then gather together for a bit of social activity known as the On In or Down Down with refreshment, humor, song and the occasional feast. In most groups, all are welcome, young and old, fast or slow, so don't wait to get in shape, just go out and join in. The only prerequisite to hashing is a sense of humor, so check out a hash near you by clicking on the World Directory link, search for the group nearest you and ring up or email one of the contacts listed there. It's that simple.

If you do not know anything about the Hash House Harriers and would like to read up on us, or if you cannot find a group near you and are thinking of starting one, click on the Hash Bible. This is a complete hash reference book which includes history, mismanagement concepts, and trail marking ideas, stories and more.

Sandpit Hash

Doesn’t the UAE already have enough hashes?
Sure, but almost all of them run in the cities in the evening and during the week. A few of us from Abu Dhabi Island Hash thought it’d be good to have a monthly run out in the desert and during the day.
So how will it work?

On the Friday nearest to the full moon each month, we’ll gather somewhere within two hours’ drive of Abu Dhabi or Dubai and start the run/walk at 4pm. After a quick circle, we’ll settle in for a barbecue, a campfire and some suitable beverages then camp overnight. The idea is for a stress-free hash so it’s BYO food and drink. There’ll be a nominal Dh20 fee to cover beverages for the circle and incidental costs.
 Who’s this for?
We’ve deliberately not included Abu Dhabi in the title because we’d like this to be a pan-Emirates group so other hashers in the sandpit can take turns setting runs in their favourite locations in the desert.
How do I sign up?
There’s no membership fee. You can reach us by signing up to our facebook group or you can email us on [email protected]. On on!

WASPs

The WASPs Hash House Harriers is a running group with a difference. They are a small, friendly social group who meet after runs at places such as each other's houses rather than honoring some of the more traditional HHH behaviors. They run every Tuesday in Abu Dhabi (and some of us walk and talk, and some push baby buggies).

Visitors are welcome, and you can find run sites posted each week at www.waspsh3.wikispaces.com.
