cambodian kids charity

The Cambodian Children's Charity
Our main purpose is to help children in Cambodia who are either poor or whose parents are not there for them: orphans, street children, children living in poor rural areas and children affected by natural disasters, such as flood or famine. In a country where there is a high rate of child abandonment, we also support programs to help strengthen vulnerable families and keep them together. Tired of charities spending too much on overheads, administration, junk mail and professional fundraisers ? So were we. When we started The Cambodian Children’s Charity, we decided that all the money provided by donors would go directly towards our projects. The administration of the Charity is performed by the Trustees and friends of the Charity and is provided free of charge. The Charity’s unavoidable costs relating to the receipt of donations and the transfer of funds to our projects (amounting to only a few % of the money raised) are more than covered by unrestricted donations and from tax we recover from the UK Government, through Gift Aid. www.camkids.org

world food program

The World Food Program
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization fighting hunger worldwide. Each year, on average, WFP feeds more than 90 million people in more than 70 countries. A United Nations agency, WFP pursues a vision of a world where all men, women and children have access to the food they need to live a healthy and active life. In emergencies, WFP is on the ground, delivering food to people who need it the most, saving the lives of children and mothers, as well as victims of conflict and natural disasters. After the emergency period is passed, WFP aims to prevent hunger through programmes that use food as a tool to build stronger, more food-secure communities, and boost social and economical development at all levels, from education and women’s empowerment, to local employment, healthcare and environmental preservation. As little as one dirham can help provide a nutritious school meal to a hungry child, while 200 dirhams can help feed that child for an entire school year. More information, visit www.wfp.org

himalayan project

The Himalayan Project
The incredible physical beauty of the Himalayan region is staggering, immediately dwarfing anything on the human scale and making one wonder how man could ever have blown his importance so out of proportion. There is a rhythmic, pulsating and sensual quality to this ancient landscape and culture that in spite of its incredible harshness can still present a sweet tenderness and vulnerability if only one scratches the surface. For many years now Sally Hunsdorfer has been traveling to Nepal. On one of her first visits she started a dialogue with the Headmaster of the school in Chaurikharka, a mountain village at 10,000 feet that enjoys stunning panoramic views of majestic peaks and lush valleys. The conversation focused on the needs of his school and the surrounding community. Those basic and essential needs - shelter, education and the preservation of a culture barely clinging to existence - have become the primary work of the Himalayan Project. Register4

Register4
Register4 is Australia’s first online community for volunteer breast cancer research participants. By joining the community you could help researchers spend less time finding volunteers and more time to find a cure. It’s free to join, confidential and anyone 18 years and over can take part. Researchers speak often of how long it can take to find the right people to participate in their work - it can sometimes take years. When looking for large groups of women to participate in research projects, the cost to recruit and identify suitable participants can run high. Register4 aims to help cut those costs right down, so that medical research funding can be used more effectively. The more people who join Register4, the fewer delays and the faster researchers can get to work. Read More>>
