Hi and welcome to Dubai! I love the Garden Centre on SZR and go there even in the summer. I put my two in clothes/shoes you dont mind getting wet and let them splash around in all the different water features that they have spread around the place. The cafe there is lovely and there are so many things/plants to see there. If you ask one of the workers for some fish food your boys can feed the pond fish. I also like taking my girls to the Golden Mile on the Palm. Super easy parking up yo the Galleria and there is a great play ground just outside Shakespeares restaurant which has water fountains that the kids can run around in. The Polo Club opposite Arabian Ranches is still also ok, weather wise, late in the afternoon or early morning. Lots of grass, a wooden playground and just nice being around horses. If the boys want to swim you can buy pool access for the day at a very reasonable price. The food is pretty good in the Epona restaurant also. Your 3 year old can do a pony ride for AED40 starting at 5 pm or between 8.30and 9.30. A lot of people like the butterfly park, its temperature controlled so you can go all year around. It is a lovely little place that i am sure that your kids will like. I just found it a bit hard to stomach that some people were chasing/hurting these amazing creatures, there were many dying butterflies on the ground and the staff didnt care... SplashPad in JBR is BRILLIANT for your boys age. It is a water playground for small children which is fully covered and very shallow. SP in the Entertainer so it is good value. If you get the day pass with the voucher it costs AED95 for 24 hours for both boys and they will validate your underground car park for 3 hours. There is also another water playground called Splash N Party, which is meant to be good, but i have not been there yet. The Lost Chambers in Atlantis is also in the Entertainer and a great aquarium for little kids and adults. We also like visiting Mirzam chocolate factory in Al Serkal Avenue and then walk over to Spill the Bean in the Nadi Al Quoz building. Amazing place for kids! A big area of NAQ is covered in stones and chairs and a bed hanging from the ceiling that the kids or you can chill in. The cafe area is bean bags and floor chairs so there is nothing that they can push over or break. There is also the Dubai Aquarium, i personally didnt like it, but a lot of people do. The public beaches are also good Have fun!

Hi Clessani, First of all, well done for breast feeding your daughter and pumping for a year. It is not easy but you are giving her the absolute best start in life! I completely understand your thinking as i was in the same position with both of my children. Maybe you could just stop pumping at work and continue feeding her in the morning and evening? Breastfeeding gets easier and easier the older the child becomes, ie every session becomes shorter. I believe that goats milk is a superior alternative over soy/cows milk. Have a look at http://kellymom.com, it is an excellent website in regards to breastfeeding. I am positive you will find some good advice from there. Good luck and again, well done! x

Emirates Home Nursing provide trained nannies. I used this company once and the girl they sent me was truly awful and not a trained nanny. She was a trained nurse who had been working in A&E for a very short time in the Philippines before coming here. When i booked with EHN, I told them very clearly that i needed somebody experienced with small babies. They told me that the girl they were sending had been working with them for 2 years and had a lot of experience with babies but this was a complete lie as she literally had no idea what to do and told me that she had only been with the company for 5 months! This girl was SO unprofessional and told me that she did not like Dubai and had applied to go to the UK. What an absolute joke of a company, I would never use them again. Needless to say, I did not leave my house that day!

The Organic Supermarket has a good range of soya/coconut yoghurts aswell as other dairy free alternatives. You will also find a lot of gluten/wheat free products there. There are three branches in Dubai, one in The Greens, SZR and one in Jumeirah 1 Good luck!

Dr Ekaterina delivered both of my daughters, 2.5 years and 2 months old. She truly is an amazing woman who genuinely cares about her patients. I cannot recommend her highly enough. After both my deliveries she came back once every day to check on me in the hospital and to change my dressing, as I had a c-section. Her nurse Myra is also fantastic, it is a lovely clinic that she has built. Good luck and i can assure that you will not regret choosing Dr E as your Ob/Gyn!

Like a few others, I left it too late to vote. My gut feeling is that most people voted out did it on a racist basis – Little ****** Englanders! Also I think those who voted out are living in a dream world, yearning after an England that doesn’t exist anymore. Now with Article 50, we will probably have to wait another year before we know where we stand and with the credit rating, there goes our mortgage. On the other hand, bursting the housing bubble sounds good enough for youngsters trying to buy a house. Perhaps we will start getting tax free green beans from Kenya or cheaper Pinotage from South Africa into Sainburys or Waitrose, not that I care too much about wine. http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jun/25/meet-10-britons-who-voted-to-leave-the-eu

Hello again, I just wanted to give you an update of what happened to my mum when she arrived in Dubai this morning. She was given a 96 hour visa and was told to go to Oman and come back to the UAE in order to get a 90 day visa. I am completely at a loss! We are going to the main immigration office in Bur Dubai to see what we can do but i do not understand any of this. She has always been given 30 days when she has visited before. If this has happened to anybody else, could you please let me know what the outcome was, for you? Thank you

Hi SarahLou, Yes, Sweden is part Schengen. Does this mean that my mum could get a 90 day visa on arrival in Dubai? Do you know if you have to pay?

Hello, We are also moving the The SC soon and funnily enough i met a lady yesterday who had moved in a couple of weeks ago. She said that there are a high number of workers on site everyday, which is great. They have had a few smaller issues which has been dealt with quite quickly as the sales office and workers are right there. The lady said that they asked for a seal to be put under the front door as there is a bit of gap and for a second electrical socket for the kitchen as there is only one. This might be something to try and have arranged before you actually move in. The villas are so well planned but seriously, one socket in the kitchen?! The toster and the kettle will have to take turns ha ha Hope you have a stress free move:)

hi we will be letting our lovely house help from Nepal go in May next year... she has been with us for four years and is very hardworking, diligent and takes excellent care of my kids... however she is now looking for a higher salary than we can afford to spare at this stage so if you would want to consider her I'm more than happy to recommend her (though she's only available from 7th of May). I would be very interested in talking to your maid. We are looking for somebody to start next year as a live in maid. We are a Swedish/English family with one toddler and a small dog. Can you please contact me on Thank you!

Try HappyBellies baby cereals. They are organic and wholegrain, more nutritious than white rice cereal, you can get it at The Change Initiative and at the organic aisle at Union Coop Al Barsha Mall. You might be able to get in other places but these are the only two i know of. They are all dairy free Hope this helps!

Dr Marc Sinclair at The Childrens Medical Centre is fantastic. He will be operating on my four month old in a couple of weeks. I spent a long time researching before we decided on him. He also does a lot of charity work, have a look at his profile on their website and good luck! http://www.tcmcdubai.com/our-doctors/dr-marc-sinclair/

Hi RugRats, The buildings you mentioned are called The Views. The Greens are actually only the older buildings across the road. I live in Arno and absolutely love it. What i can tell you is that there are regular problems with the hot water in several of the buildings here but i am still happy here. Our security, pool, gym etc are brilliantly maintained and the general outside space is always immaculate. A great community to live in

So, it took me AGES to finally find out what the procedure was, get the right version of the right paperwork, argue with 3 different DNATA staff regarding what was required and what wasnt... so here we are (bearing in mind our cats are flying with Air France): - ensure that all vaccinations are up to date a minimum of 21 days before you travel, you have the vaccination booklet and your animal is microchipped - make a reservation with the airline to get an airways bill number - take a copy of the attached document in English and the native language of the country you are flying to http://ec.europa.eu/food/animal/liveanimals/pets/nocomm_third_en.htm - have your vet fill out the attached form IN BLUE INK and stamp - also have your vet deworm your animal - take this document with your animal to the Emirates SkyCargo building in Cargo Village, first floor to where the Government Vet (Ministry of Water and Agriculture) is and have him stamp the last page of the attached document. He will verify the microchip number of your animal. - this vet will also give you a Certificate of Health which is also known to some as an Export Permit although this is not written on the form - ensure you have an IATA certified crate big enough for your animal. It needs to have a minimum of 10cms above the animals head when standing and ample space to move around in plus a water bowl / bottle. - in the meantime, Air France confirm that the person you claim will collect the animal will actually collect the animal by calling them in the country the animal is flying to. This is very important as this is required for the Import Documentation on the other side (that we never see) - take copies of all documentation for your own purposes - be prepared to do a LOT of running around the day of the flight. These procedures need to be finalised 4 hours before the flight at the latest! - take your paperwork to DNATA Export office of Cargo Village, they will ask you to complete more paperwork, you then need to take animals to cargo to be weighed and measured, they will then be taken to Police for inspection and taken off you. You will receive paperwork you need to take to Dubai Customs in Emirates Sky Cargo Building first floor, which will be stamped. You then need to take this paperwork back to the DNATA desk Export Office, where you will be asked to go to another Customs desk for more stamping and then payment at the DNATA desk. All of your preliminary paperwork needs to be completed within the 5 days before your animal travels and not beforehand so you cannot prepare well in advance. In all the day of travel, it took us 3 hours but it depends on the queues at the time so make LOTS of time. I had the time to run around and do it myself but the most frustrating part of it was getting so many different answers as to what was required. Maybe this post can help someone else in the future and its worth it all to know that your furry friends are joining you in your new home! :) Very useful information! Thank you very much

They shouldn't have a problem as dogs aren't allowed off the lead here (or at least I haven;t found anywhere to do so). Ours gets two good walks a day and there are quite a few others that we see regularly and we tend to let them have a sniff, which sometimes goes well and sometimes not! I think you can take them out to the desert and let them off the lead and run although we haven;t done that. There is a doggy play park too, but the dog has to have a behavioural assessment and I've never been confident our boy would pass! Hi Suze63, Could you tell me where the dog park is? Thanks

I have vouchers for spice emporium (Westin), Thai chi (wafi), and the Thai kitchen (park Hyatt)...which one is better? Haven't been to any and want to go out with friends. The Thai Kitchen is fantastic, especially when the weather is nice and you can sit outside. Lovely view of the marina. I have been there three times and it has always been consistently good food and service. If you like seafood the crab salad is TO DIE FOR!

You should definitely go and see Woof! They have recently moved to fantastic new premises and you can't find better staff anywhere. I was not impressed with Positive Paws, tiny place and not very friendly. They wouldn't allow me to look at their outside space until I paid the AED150 fee for evaluating my puppy?! I just wanted to see what I would be paying for...
