I second all others that recommended Dr John McEwan at Sohar Clinic. Not the prettiest clinic, however, location is good and he's just a fabulous Doctor and personality! :) Good luck! :)

Ave_Marina and Sarahlou123 has given you proper advise :) The same rule applies if you're referring to a tenancy contract for a commercial office/villa, however, the RERA calculator is slightly different for commercial offices/villas, as it's referring to the areal of the office/villa. Hence, if it's a commercial building and your landlord provides a RERA calculation, make sure he used the correct size in the calculation :)

I don't have any recent experience from a pediatric dentist/orthodontist for my kids (they're all grown up :) ) but I'm super happy with Dr. Eva at My Dental Clinic. Last time I was there (about 4 months ago) she told me they'll have a Danish pediatric dentist and a Swedish Orthodontist joining shortly. As I don't have any personal experience with them I can't give a true recommendation but if they keep half the standard of my dentists they're very, very good :) Good luck :)

You have some good recommendations here on the forum so I hope you find a dentist you're comfortable with :) I can highly recommend Dr. Eva at My Dental Clinic. She's been my dentist for many, many years now and both me and my husband have had major work done with her that we're super happy with. She's stable in Dubai, which is a requirement for me, and has decades of experience in her profession. What I really appreciate, apart from her professionalism, is that she is a very good listener and she answers all questions in an understandable way, providing options (where possible) and recommendations that makes sense. I saw several dentists before I met her, which all suggested treatment that was of no of interest to me, nor required so be critical to suggested treatment down here (or up if you're from the south :) ). Another "pros" is that the prices in her clinic are substantially lower than in the clinic she originally was working in :) Good luck and I hope this is of help to you :)

I would highly recommend Sarah-Jayne at My Dental Clinic (yes, that's their name :) ). She's very professional and is a real sweetheart.. And her prices are very reasonable! I used to see Berely Watson at Dr. Michael's Dental Clinic before and she's amazing too (!!), however the prices in her clinic is somewhat crazy (almost double the price from Sarah-Jayne's clinic). Good luck :)

Hi ladies! I hope you're all well and enjoying the summer :) I wanted to post a thread in regards of the pools in Golden Mile but found this one instead. So no pools are open at all in all of Golden Mile? I heard from a broker that some pools were open, i.e. in some of the buildings but it seems it's the good old "decent and honest" broker talking again.. Haha. My daughter is looking into moving and after being unable to find something she likes in the Marina she started looking at Golden Miles because of the size (however, hasen't seen it in person just yet). Do you have any input on the actual apartments, i.e. bad smell? Leakages? Quality? Do you have any availability to the pools? Any nearby beach club you can buy access pass to at a discounted rate? Thanks a million in advance! :)

There's a lot of great hygienists in Dubai that will do a great job for you, I've personally visited two different ones during my many years in Dubai: Sarah-Jayne at My Dental Clinic and Beverly at Dr. Michaels Dental Clinic :) I can highly recommend them both. They're very gentle and highly professional. However, from a price point of view I would absolutely recommend you to see Sarah-Jayne who charges literally half the price for the same in-office whitening, including the trays you get to use at home :)

Both me and my husband has done a lot of work with Dr. Eva and she is absolutely amazing (Swedish dentist with incredible experience). I'm not sure what you're looking for but her approach is to keep your own teeth to the extent possible (rather than placing veneers on teeth that doesn't need it) and put great effort to make sure your bite is correct. I was suggested 20 veneers and crowns (10 up and 10 down) from several dentists in Dubai before I met Dr. Eva. I ended up aligning my teeth, doing teeth whitening and placing 6 veneers and 1 crown. I'm extremely pleased with the result and I'm so happy that I could keep 13 of my natural teeth rather than to grind them down! I highly recommend her to everyone I know (and don't know) and I would absolutely suggest you see her for an opinion before you proceed with any work :) She has her own clinic in Umm Suqeim called My Dental Clinic. PS: She also does the procedure whereas you can see the result before you start with the procedure. DS.

I'm always happy to recommend Dr. Eva (a super sweet Swedish dentist with loads of experience), however I think your friend should see a hygienist for stain removal? :) She has her own clinic in Umm Suqeim called My Dental Clinic and the charges are very reasonable. Happy hunting :)

Yeah I live in West Avenue! Perfect for young couples or singles, amazing finish and looks sleek and modern. My husband and I love our apartment completely! But.... we have had a lot of trouble with leaks/plumbing/AC/smells and a lot of the people we have spoke to in the building are leaving at the end of their tenancy this year due to the issues. It's a new build though, so me and my husband are quick to forgive because it is such a great tower and basically all the kinks just need ironing out as with any new development. Plus great location!! Hope that helps! Thanks a lot for the information Haim! :) As you write, what new tower in Dubai doesn't come with some early kiddo-deceases :) .. However, it's somewhat worrisome that that you've had a lot of problems and that many people have decided to move out for those reasons. How often does it occur when you write "a lot"? :) In regards of the smell, is it easily fixed or it's a constant bad smell? Many thanks in advance!!

I agree with asking the pharmacist and if it is very serious just call an ambulance. I am curious, is this hotline in your home country for citizens only? There are citizens-only hospitals in the UAE, and there may be a hotline too, but that would not help you much as you are not a citizen? Great, I'll just stick to the pharmacists then, thanks for all the replies and advise!.. I'll try and get hold of my Doctors number too.. Haha :) Yes, it's for citizens only (you have to provide your social security number before you can proceed) :)

Asking for a reliable dentist in Dubai is a popular question on EW :) I'm sure you find some really good ones in the recommendations above but I agree with Suze63, Dr. Eva Gorton comes highly recommended! I've been a patient of her since 2007 (at that time she was working at Dr. Michael's Dental Clinic) but she has now set up her own clinic called My Dental Clinic (located in Jumeirah/Umm Suqeim). She has loads of experience and a very sweet personality. In addition the charges in her new clinic is a way lower than in the clinic she previously worked for :) Good luck! :)

At my dentist (My Dental Clinic in Umm Suqeim) they charge 2000 AED which includes the in-office whitening (zoom) and also the whitening trays you need to use occasionally to top-up (every 3-6 months depending on the amount of coffee, tea, red whine you consume :) ). I've tried it and had really good results. However, I had to see the hygienist for a short free consultation prior to the whitening as it doesn't work if you have crowns/fillings in the front.. If you do, then you have to replace those as well to match the new color you get after the whitening :) I'm super happy with the treatment! edited by McDubai on 21/02/2015

Have to agree with driftwood to get a second opinion. I've just recommended Dr. Hamdy on another thread and as well as other work, he has done a root canal for DH. We've been seeing him for a few years now and I would trust him to give you an honest opinion. He is at the German Dental Center , Cluster B, on JLT and his prices are very reasonable. 04 449 5335. And no, I don't work there, am just a very satisfied customer! edited by amelia on 10/02/2015 Hi Amelia! I hope you're all well!.. Funny that you have to add the last comment but I know how some people reacts when you recommend someone at this forum.. I appreciate it though so let's keep up the spirit.. Haha :)

My friend represents a luxury German kitchen manufacturer and will soon open up a showroom on Al Thanya Street in Umm Suqeim. I would lie if I told you they're affordable so it would depend on your budget :) We bought our kitchen from IKEA but bought counter top and appliances elsewhere. We added a really nice Corian counter as well as as Miele appliances and we're VERY happy with it. The IKEA cabinets are of great quality and they have a lot of practical gadgets.. Adding the luxury accessories almost makes the kitchen feel like the price range on the German luxury ones :) Good luck!

I would highly recommend Dr. Eva at My Dental Clinic in Umm Suqeim. She's very professional and a lovely lady (with tons of experience). Hi. Anyone been to Dr Diane for a root canal? She was referred. TIA. I've only received treatment from Dr. Sophie de Cort (owns Dental Art Clinic) and she's super! I don't know about Dr. Diane but Ihear Vilafortuny is one of the most expensive clinics you find in Dubai (more pricy than Dr. Michaels even).. Hence I would go for a second opinion at Dr. Sophie's clinic :)

As you've read in some of the responses I would also argue it's based on the care you're used to from back home. In either way I hope all went well for you! For next time (or if someone else wants another suggestion) I too went to Dr. Michaels Clinic before. If it wasn't for the fact that I was very happy with my dentist (Dr. Eva Gorton) I would have changed dentist in a second because of the prices. Lucky me she decided to open up her own clinic a couple of years back, called My Dental Clinic in Umm Suqeim, and they have reduced the prices from her last clinic.. With that said it's not the prices you find in Karama or Deira but you get your treatment from a very experienced Dentist at reasonable rates :) I would happily recommend Dr. Eva to anyone looking for great dental care :) edited by McDubai on 01/02/2015

I've used On The Move a couple of times. They're really good and the moving guys are all polite and speaks good english :) We moved recently from a 3 BR apartment to a villa and they charged us 2500 AED (however excl. the price for insurance). Also, they don't do any electrical work but have a company they can recommend if required :)

I've been seeing her since 2007 (at that time she was working at Dr. Michaels Dental Clinic) and the prices at the clinic she´s with now is a lot lower than the previous one :)

I agree that "you get what you pay for" isn't always applicable :) However, I know that there´s a difference in the treatment you receive when the dentist have different technologies. I've too seen Sophie de Cort and she has both 3D X-ray and a Microscope.. And from what I understand from different dentists that I've been talking to it makes a huge difference when it comes to the prognosis and diagnostics. I would highly recommend Dr. Sophie but I'm sure you can get treatment cheaper if you're willing to compromise on accessibility and technologies used :) Her charge for my molar was 3000 AED and I paid roughly 4000 AED to my dentist for the crown.

Hello ladies, Has anyone had dental implants done recently? Can you please recommend a good dentist? How much did you pay and how long did it take? Thank you :) My husband had an implant with Prof Steen at Dr Michaels. Our dentist Dr Chris referred us to him, he also is at Dr Michaels Umn sequin branch. Very happy with results, we paid around 11000dhs for the whole procedure, including the crown for the implant which Dr chris did. Was the implant including the crown 11000 AED at Dr. Michaels?? My husband went for a consultation there and they quoted him 15000 AED excluding the consultation and x-rays :\:

I have.. On several occasions :) I've done ZOOM whitening once which was very effective! However, my teeth are kind of sensitive so I had striking pain for 1-2 seconds a few times the following two days. I also had trays made that I can use at home when the teeth get yellowish (I use them every six months or so for an hour a day, 3-4 days in a row each time) :)

I'm sorry ladies, I'll let my husband answer as he thinks he can add some value to the conversation; "It's not worth buying a Smart TV anywhere in the world for the "Smart" part (any computer, Apple TV, media machine does the job 1000 times better). However, all of the better TV's are Smart TV's, e.g. it's a function that just comes a long with the TV. Don't fall for the 400 mHz vs. 800 mHz vs. 1000 Mhz - this is a pure marketing strategy from the manufacturers. Instead, ask the sales person to change the picture mode from "Dynamic" to "Movie" mode (this picture mode is the one that shows more or less accurate colors and can be changed under settings). Based on the picture you choose the one you perceive produces the best picture - if you don't see any difference you choose the one with the lowest price. Note, however that buying no-name brands is a bit risky as these brands use low-quality ports and boards. In the event you connect your TV to other sources (amplifier, Blu-Ray etc. etc.) there is a risk you face what's called a "hand-shake problem". The effect is that the picture is completely black and there will be no sound.. Stick to the major brands and choose based on your experience.. And there's very little risk you make a purchase you're unhappy with in the future." I hope it helps :)

I've done both normal braces and Invisalign (traditional braces at a younger age but my teeth moved back since I didn't wear a retainer). As Kitten67 says it's a bit of a hassle but I would say it's hassle-free compared to the traditional brackets.. I really appreciated the possibility to keep clean during the treatment and it has evolved since my treatment as well. My daughter have Invisalign now and she can follow the progression with each tray on her phone which is kind of impressive to me :) It's definitely more expensive than the traditional braces but I found it rewarding still. Make sure you find a dentist you're comfortable with and that can explain the treatment fully before you start. Some of the clinics do offer installments as well as it's a costly and long procedure. If you have any specific questions, please let me know :)

Hi! Personally I haven't experienced the same problem as you but occasionally I suffer from pain in my left shoulder. I've seen Peter Engmark in Healthcare City many times but when he suddenly increased his price from 400 AED for 1 h to 640 AED for 40 minutes I looked elsewhere.. Not saying he's not good but it's a bit too expensive for me :) Now I go to Emirates European Medical Center on Al Thanya Street. There is a Chiropractor from Finland there (can't remember his name now.. I've only been there once) and he's really good.. The price is reasonable as well :) Good luck!!
