Hey all.... Well iv been trying to log on and post about this, just came across another thread along the same lines but since it's title is Aquaventure not everybody might read it and would like to give others a headsup So many popular vendors like Nandos, Red lobster Tche Tche, Nar are not there anymore. A lot of vendors have even changed their offers eg only beverages instead of food items.Kidazania doesnt have any kids tickets :( Ferrari world only has 1 pass. And God knows how many other surprises inside, just do your research before buying!

Hey there.....has anyone visited the Space event at Burj Park?...DS is 8 and absolutely lovess science related stuff but these events can sometimes be such a let down with hardly anything actually worthy of all the advertising... Would be lovely if someone's already been and share their experience...and also if the activities inside are paid? TIA

Hi there.. I rarely post, basically a silent observer but a fan nonetheless. Ew has always come through for me so a big thankyou to all the ladies in advance. Its baby number 3 for us.We dont have insurance and my last delivery via c sec (nov 2013) was at Zahra Sharjah costing us 29k. Ive always been under the impression that American hospital is horrendously expensive, but a friend who had a c-sec there last week also ended up paying about 29k including baby circumcision. I would be really glad if any of u ladies could share how much uv actually ended up paying for C section at AH? The package says 23k but iv heard that they always add alot at the final settlement. Many thanks.

Oh my god! I am.absolutely paranoid when it comes to such issues, having read about so many incidents recently. Now that the OP has had her concerns reaffirmed..i would urge her not to waste any.time in contacting the school. I have especially come onto the post to request OP to please.let us know how did the school actually react and what steps they took to correct the situation.

Hey kaba...I have used this website called DubaibySana.com... Theyre basically a travel site, but we did rent a mini bus from them..full day rate of 500-600 dhs (8hrs) with a liscenced driver. Found it much much cheaper than hauling guests around in taxis and waiting in taxi lines.. We live in shrajah so the taxis have an additional 20dhs if they come this side so u can do the math. Their vans are new, so was happy with that and they helped us plan a great trip with various activities too.. :) so the whole thing worked out well Hope this helps

I have made a booking for 3 adults, 1 child and 1 infant at the Double Tree by Hilton, Marjan Island RAK.( will pay for an extra bed ofcourse but atleast won't have to pay for an entire extra room) I suppose if 5 guests are possible, you could maybe make a similar booking. Waldorf Astoria RAK, and Radisson Fujairah were also showing rooms for my desired number of guests. Hope this helps:)

Dear all...have been searching the expat woman forum in vain for information on where to get circumcision done for my DH (20 days old now) at both a reasonable price and place. The best option so far it seems is Zulekha hospital in Shj or Dubai(they do it for 600)...now the dilemma is they have either Hindu or Iraqi doctors...my husband is not very comfortable with non-Muslims as this is basically a religious ritual..and our experience with Iraqi doctors have not been that great(no offence is intended to anybody out there-these our just our personal thoughts. However if anybody has had a good experience at Zulekha it will help us to make our decision.. If anybody gotten the procedure done at any of these branches and can tell me about their experience it will be highly appreciated... Pleasssse help.. PS: or if anyone knows of a better place..please do tell...TIA

Velvet Underground at the Royal Ascot Hotel Bur Dubai also has them either on Thursday or Friday... both Noir at Pulse(movenpick) and Velvet underground are nice......velvet seems to play better music though (just my opinion)...plus the DJs change all the time... and yes Desi is generally referred to Indians or pakistanis ...more often indians as there seem to be more of them ;)

the agent who arranged the visas for us told us to go to the Baraha hospital (in deira) i guess all govt hospitals must be doing it(but pls confirm)... it was a surprisingly good experience; never been to a govt hospital before; the nurse was amazing...didn't even feel the prick for the injection so much so that i wondered if she had even done it! we had our 4 year old with us as well..so fine for the baby too.. they gave us a record card with a stamp on it. Best of luck for ur Umrah :)

We went last month while staying in one of the nearby RAK hotels. You would need to bring your own lunch, plenty of sunblock (since there is very little shade), get there early to avoid the smokers. It seemed the visitors there were either Filipino, Indian, expat Arab or Russian. Just an observation. Most of the swimwear was conservative. but it says on the website that ur not allowed to bring your own food...??

Dear Alismum and all the other ladies who suggested boric powder for cockroaches.... as with most other problems i had logged on to ask for help for cockroach control and lo and behold found this thread ...i had almost given up hope ..tried gel twice by a company to no avail...the cockroaches had taken over my kitchen...so much trouble as ecerything has to be washed before use ..and plus its just plain disgusting and so unhygienic! A HUGE HUMONGOUS HEARTFELT THANKS for the suggestion ...only 2-3 days of boric powder has taken care of most of the problem....ive noticed 70% reduction so hopefully getting there soon ! thanks ladies and EW which makes this all possible

well I don't usually put up questions like these.... but has anyone watched Taken 2...the reviews on IMDB seem to be mixed although the rating is 7! I dont mind some good action even if it may not be supported by one of the best plots in the world.... but something entirely mundane is to be avoided.......... so girls tell!!!

Thank you so much for all your replies...DH is a little better...able to walk slowly and sit for little while ...pain in leg still there but going higher up in the leg which the doc says is a good sign! surgery is still not ruled out though...! fjcruiser..i called for an app with Dr Masaddi ...and he is available in February! imagine that...although if it comes to surgery i would like to have him as our Dr...so thank you for ur reply and ur idea of the cost estimate also helped..... have an appointment with Dr Catalin at Neurospinal on thursday ...will at least get his opinion have been reading good things about Dr Amr Sarwat at City hospital here on expat woman..so now thinking maybe no harm in getting his opinion too... Would still like to add for general info that Dr Charles Jones has so far been a miracle worker and has brought DH to this level where at least he has regained some level of activity... May all of you never need a doctor and be healthy and happy...amen!

I just dropped my 5 year old DS to school today for the new school year. He is in Choueifat School Sharjah........ I was devastated( maybe even this is an understatement!) to find out that they have shuffled all the sections ...from KG2 last year to Grade 1 he does not have the same children in his class anymore! he was already extremely upset about going back to school...but that’s ok as I expect all kids do that after the looong holidays ..and me and DH have been telling him that he will see all his friends and compare stories and show new bags etc...only to find out that the same kids are not even there ? Do all school in Dubai do that?!!!......DS is my only son so not much idea how it works here ...but I personally do not agree with this system as this way the children will never create a deep bond with other kids over the years if this keeps happening Please ladies share your thoughts ............ love to all and best of luck with all ur kids too..

had started this thread and had given my feedback on another...... just copying it and adding it here...but karendsa what i had felt even at that time was that i should probably have been more assertive when i was there...so just make your self heard when you are there and let them know if anything is bothering u ...im sure all is not lost ;) best of luck ............. Just had my first keratin treatment done last Thursday...bought the cobone deal for En vogue Beauty Salon in JBR.... will vent about the service level later in the post!.....but as I wasn’t told ANYTHING AT ALL!! I would really like to know what is it about letting it stay for 3 days or washing out same day? (I shampooed on the third day) Plus after the shampoo is the hair supposed to stay dead straight the way it was when the treatment was done ....coz mine wasn’t ..it still needed slight ironing...and for that matter my hair is not curly ...just slightly wavy to begin with! Now comes the part about the salon...... No service! I waited for about 50 minutes after which I started asking the receptionist when I would get my turn...mostly Arab male hairdressers and Filipino help staff... The manager kind of guy just pointed me to go and sit in the hair wash chair ...No smile no greeting nothing....a Filipino came n washed the hair and started applying something from a tube ..I asked her what it was ...she said wait and started asking other people what it was ..someone told her it was for colour protection...she put that and some other stuff and said it was keratin (since it was my first time didnt have much of an idea what the process is like so asked her if that was it and she said we will make u sit under the heat thing and thats it....she didn’t know much though....) I was taken to a chair where nobody was interested in coming and taking up the next step ...and meanwhile there is not a smile in sight ...although the salon was full and lot of other patrons seemed o be getting friendly service! a girl comes up takes of the plastic cap and asks whats my treatment I tell her keratin...she says ok and goes away...comes back and asks my name ...goes away..comes back n says the other girl gave me the wrong treatment ..have to wash it out and put stuff again..... again to the shampoo...no smile or light banter or even an apology for the mistake yet... wash..back to the chair ...process starts...I ask the lady everybody seems to be very ANTI COBONE here...so she starts with how it is a waste of time and how they dont make money ...and on and on ...how she bought a cobone and didnt get service ....i countered with the fact that its the companies own choice to market cobones and its for publicity and people do pay even if it is less and if we like the service we are likely to visit without a deal also... she has the gall to tell me that she doubts if cobone purchasers would ever return at normal prices...!!!!!!!!!the whole of dubai has bought this deal etc etc again silence..i ask her if she is feeling alrite as she appears very sullen ...replies i dont chat while i work!! i ask her if she will do the cut also says ya ' a trim' ..i am like its supposed to be a cut...shes like .ok will see.. keratin is done..she is called away ..now the wait for who will cut the hair ...a filipino who is drying my hair is asking people here and there if they will cut?? making me feel like a reject charity case! finally a kenyan lady comes who thankfully was nice enough...atleast she said no no...its alright to have a cobone... compared to others she still seemed like an angel (although she also said what do u want ...i asked her advice ..she said dont know ..whatever you want) she did the cut in under 5 minutes and left.....no goodbye no thankyou... you are supposed to pick up your stuff and leave. i did like the cut and also the initial result of the keratin was nice...i feel this also needs to be said. however my self esteem definitely suffered! plus now the question of whether the straight look is supposed to stay or become bit fuzzy after wash?? do comment ladies ! it will help

Dear ladies... I will be really obliged if some body can advise me on my situation... My DH suffered a slip disc around 15 days back..he has 2 of them one small one between L4 and L5 and one major one between L5and S1...the lower one is pressing on the sciatica nerve which is causing major pain so much so that he can barely walk ...only to the loo and back and is mostly lying down... Now ive been following this thread since DH's issue started..and read about all various recommendations.....we have gone to Dr Charles Jones the chiropractic...he is doing spine decompression therapy...but on our second visit today he told us that a fragment of the disc seems to have broken off which is now pressing on the nerve ....we will continue with the therapy for 1 week but if there is no drastic improvement we will have to go for surgery to remove that fragment. He advised us that if it comes to surgery the best doctors were available at AI MIS (American institute of minimally invasive spine surgery) in Cyprus....he said these are all American doctors and best in the world..............in Dubai he only suggested Dr Msaddi at Neuro Spinal Jumeirah and one other at Dubai Bone and Joint Centre. The Cyprus stint would cost us around 20,000 $ ....it’s just an idea which Dr Jones gave.. Would love it if anybody could share their personal experience with Dr Msaddi, how much it costed? Just for a general idea of course.....and if any body has ever gone to the Cyprus hospital which Dr Jones recommends...(I really respect him...he sorted out my back pain although not major and a friend has gone to him for years and recommends him highly) Any comments/advice highly appreciated! TIA.. PS: I think Expat Woman is a great blessing ...reading about all u guys out there has given me so much hope and often direction as well. Love u all

i have not gone through the whole thread ...but from ur first post what i understand is that the UAE govt needs a govt attested nikah nama ...(not just the muslim doc which is not attested by UK govt as they only recognize the civil ceremony if you have people back in pakistan (im sure even in india it should be possible) send the nikah nama there...and ask them to get it attested from pk govt...(such things are possible there ..if you get my drift) once the govt attested nikah doc is there you should be able to get the UAE stuff processed as they dont care which country has attested it ...as long as it is original and verifiable you donot even need to travel if you have people there who are well settled back home and know their way about such stuff... GET IT?
