Summer in Dubai for teenage girls... my top ten things to see and places to go

burj khalifa dubai

My idea of the top ten things to do in a Dubai summer:

1. Burj Khalifa
2. The Dubai Mall
3. Ski Dubai in Mall Of The Emirates
4. Wild Wadi
5. Desert Safari’s
6. The gold souk
7. Atlantis hotel & water park
8. JBR walk & beach
9. Amara Spa –Park Hyatt Dubai
10. Bab Al Shams

Summer in Dubai can often be perceived as a tough time of year… The sun is blazing and the heat is rising. Yet, us girls can always find something fun to do! Whether it’s visiting the mall, or chilling beachside. There is undoubtedly always somewhere to go!

The majority of people abroad believe that Dubai is just a desert and there is nothing to do in the hotter months, (especially the girls!) except, they are wrong. Dubai is one of the most amazing places to be on holiday, away from routine when you can do whatever, whenever! One day you’re in a vast palace living like a royal. The next your in Karama living the absolute opposite surrounded by handbags galore. What could be better?

1. Burj Khalifa
Dubai is known, and wants to be known for its architecture combined with culture. Take the Burj Khalifa for example; it is the tallest building in the whole world standing up tall at 2,717 feet (828 m). Yet it is shaped like the famous desert rose! So if you are a little bit of a material girl and not a big fan of the outdoors. Why not take a visit to the Burj Khalifa! Enjoy the amazing structure, a once in a lifetime trip, and a bit of culture too! Talk about being organized!!

2. The Dubai Mall
The Dubai Mall is also one of Dubai’s major attractions for tourists. Especially us teens that love to shop till’ we drop! Dubai Mall is the biggest mall in the world, along side the Burj Khalifa. It is a whopping size of 12.7 million square feet. That’s around 50 football pitches! Dubai mall has over 1000 shops whereby it is easy to find yourself getting carried away. So why not take a break albeit long or short, to visit the Dubai Aquarium that holds the Guinness world record for the ‘World’s Largest Acrylic Panel’. All within one fantastic mall!

3. Ski Dubai in Mall Of The Emirates
If you are an active teen and Dubai summer is just way too hot to be outside, then why not go skiing? Yes… Dubai has the first indoor ski resort in the Middle East where it can easily be mistaken for the crisp snowy mountaintops of Alps, as it is remarkably 22,500 square meters of real snow all year round coupled with the worlds first indoor black run! So a sporty chick wont be out of activities in the wondrous indoor ski resort.

4. Wild Wadi
Don’t fret if you aren’t too interested in gigantic structures because Dubai is catered for anyone and everyone. Including those who love the thrill of water parks. Wild Wadi has a range of 41 different colleagues with individual nationalities so be sure to test out your bilingual talents! Wild Wadi also organize environmental clean ups and won the Dubai Quality Gold Award in 2007! Surely if the environmentally friendly, award winning water parks doesn’t entice you, the entertainment will as Wild Wadi has been newly renovated to include 2 new magnificent rides! So that keeping cool in the summer months is unavoidable with the brilliance of this award winning Water Park. Make sure to pack your bikini’s girls!

5. Desert Safaris
A desert safari is as common as sand in Dubai. The fear factor is, as you want it to be. You will be treated to your own chauffeur whilst revving up, down and over the delightful dunes! Don’t worry though, its incredibly safe… if you want it to be!

6. The Gold Souk
Understandably, being a girl… we all have best friends, diamonds. However in Dubai, the jewels are a little different, we swapped diamonds for gold this time ladies! So grab your wallet and head down to the warm heart of Dubai in Deira! As far as the eye can see, a girl’s perfect idea of glittery heaven is in fact the Gold Souk. The Gold Souk consists of over 300 retailers and exclusive beauty too! So if your looking for a bit of shine to complete your summer outfit, take a visit to the Gold Souk; be sure to bring a water bottle though as all that shopping will make you thirsty!

7. Atlantis Hotel and Aqua Park
Atlantis is jam-packed with oodles of activities to do. Whether it’s visiting the Dolphin Bay, attempting Aquaventure whereby the famous 27.5-meter vertical drop, Leap Of Faith that launches visitors into a shark infested tunnel submerged fully in water, or albeit just tanning on the 1.4 kilometer stretch of white sandy beach all afternoon. The Atlantis Aqua Park is nothing short of exhilarating. After a relaxed afternoon at the beach or in the water girls, you may be interested in Club Rush. A teen only club with a separate entrance and a no parent policy so that you can relax and enjoy what Atlantis has to offer.

8. JBR Walk and Beach
Jumeirah Beach Residence has a stream of around 70 food outlets and restaurants where you can stop off for a bite to eat whilst checking out the beautiful sunshine or nightlife of Dubai. During the day it is totally worth it to visit the beach to top up your tan, as it is most definitely a tourist friendly place to be as you will be close to the restaurants and close to the beach! It’s a win; win if you aren’t afraid of gaining a little vitamin D and a healthy tan!

9. Amara Spa –Park Hyatt Dubai
After a long day of exploring the wondrous city of Dubai, the ideal situation would be to do some R&R that will be well earned after your feet are tired of walking through bustling Dubai. So why not take Dubai’s amazing offer of many salons and spa’s. One of the wonderful must-do visits to make in Dubai is to the Amara Spa in Park Hyatt Dubai. Situated on the banks of the Dubai Creek the Amara Spa holds tranquility with its cool, and inviting pool. That it is hard to resist even walking past it! So take a break from vast city life and take a dip in the pool.

10. Wadi Adventure- Al Ain
Consider yourself a bit of a surf chick? Or just feel like giving it a go? Well, Wadi Adventure may not be in Dubai. However, it’s pretty close! Especially, as it’s guaranteed fun for you, and your family. Wadi Adventure consists of three 1,133m combined world class white water rafting and kayaking runs, a surf pool that generates 3.3 meter high waves every 90 seconds, a zip wire and rope course, and of course lots and lots of food! Wadi Adventure is considered “the most unique corporate and event space to be found in the Middle East”. So if you have time; it is most definitely advised to take a trip down to Al Ain for the day as this adventure cannot be missed!
