Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in Dubai: How Your Child Can Join

For many expats, nothing conjures up feelings of sweet nostalgia like summertime back home with fellow scouts. Blazing sun. Tanned skin. Fresh catches and fruits. A new badge to pin with pride.
Just because you're an expat now and your family lives with you abroad, it doesn't mean you or your kids can no longer be a scouting member. In fact, there's groups your child can join out here in Dubai, which is great if you're seeking new friends and fellow expats to connect with.
There's a few groups you or your child(ren) can join while living in the UAE.
If you're interested in getting involved in any of the groups, you can contact them via the following information. Take note: The scout groups are listed in alphabetical order.
1. Al Marmoom Scout Project
The Marmoom Scout Project is a collaboration between the KHDA, Dubai Scout Commission and the Emirates Scouts Association. There, young scouts in Dubai to earn various scouting badges and gain relevant skills and abilities within Al Marmoom Reserve.
The reserve is the UAE's first desert sanctuary that is not walled, and it's open to the public.
2. British Scouting Overseas (BSO)
BSO is a UK Scout Area supported by the International Office at Gilwell Park, who operates the UK Programme around the world.

You may also find BSO groups elsewhere across the Gulf, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia.
3. Boy Scouts of America
The Dubai branch of the Boy Scouts of America meet weekly, and everyone is welcome to join them.

4. Cub Scouts
If you're interested in learning more about Cub Scouts, which is designed for children in grades 1 - 5, you may find information about the Cub Scouts here in Dubai by visiting their website here or by contacting Garry Presdee on [email protected] or Valerie Presdee on [email protected]
5. Emirates Scout Association
The Emirates Scout Association is the national Scouting organisation of the United Arab Emirates. Scouting was founded in the UAE in 1972, and became a member of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement in 1977.
6. GirlGuiding Overseas Dubai
British GirlGuiding Overseas Dubai is the UAE division of GirlGuiding UK.

7. Girl Guides Association of the United Arab Emirates
The Girl Guides Association of the United Arab Emirates opened in 1973, and is based in Sharjah.

8. Girl Scouts of the Philippines
Daughters of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Dubai can register to become a girl scout, as the group is also open to Filipinos residing abroad.
