Where to Find Breastfeeding Support in Dubai

Whether you're a new mother, or you're expecting your second or third child, breastfeeding can be a whole different experience each time.

Here's some support groups and experts that can help you if ever you have a worry, question or you just need a helping hand to make sure your child is feeding correctly during breastfeeding.

BreastFeeding Friends run three support lines that operate 7 days a week (10 am-10 pm) in 3 languages. They also have hospital grade breast pumps available to hire... Please call 050 8085752 for this service.

They arrange monthly mother-to-mother meetings where the mothers can share experiences, give suggestions and offer support and encouragement on various aspects of mothering and breastfeeding in a friendly and accepting atmosphere.

Breastfeeding Q&A are a not-for-profit Dubai based support group to help mothers to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support. It is intended to be a place where women can come together and discuss all breastfeeding issues.

They offer an online discussion forum, as well as Breastfeeding counsellor support, Breastfeeding seminars and Ante-natal workshops available on request.

Dr. Delphine Dupuis is an enthusiastic and caring French family doctor. She enjoys all aspects of family medicine with a special interest in pediatrics, women’ health and breastfeeding medicine. After working in France, she moved to UK to join a busy family practice of the North of Manchester.

She received her medical degree from the University Louis Pasteur of Strasbourg – France in 2000 and continued with a postgraduate training in family medicine. She worked in various departments of Strasbourg University Teaching Hospitals including Accident and Emergency Department, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Internal Medicine and Gerontology. She next pursued with a year attached to the Pediatric Department of Strasbourg University Hospitals to conduct a clinical research. She presented her thesis dissertation and was awarded her degree with distinctions.

She also holds a postgraduate degree in Women’s Health and one in Lactation and Breastfeeding medicine.

Furthermore, she is a lactation specialist with a particular focus on medical practices that support breastfeeding mothers. In addition to caring clinically for families, she works to improve knowledge about and support for maternal-child health and breastfeeding in the medical profession and in the community. She is the head of education and public awareness committee of Breastfeeding Friends, non-profit voluntary support group, under the patronage of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah and lectures frequently for the WHO/UNICEF Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative in various hospitals of the UAE.
