Replace a Lost Dubai Driver’s license

Replacing a lost driving license

If you have lost your Dubai driver’s license and you need to drive to work or pickup kids at school, then all you have to do is go to any RTA branch and apply for replacing a lost driver’s license in Dubai. Don’t ever try to drive around Dubai without your original driver’s license, yes, even with a copy only, as this may get you fined when caught.

After losing my driver’s license in a restaurant in Dubai on a weekend, I waited the next day to see if someone would ring me about a driver’s license found. But with no luck and a need to drive off to work, I went to one of the RTA branches near my residence and applied for replacing of lost driver’s license.

The process was very easy and took only within 30 minutes! I got my token number and waited to be called. Next, the counter will ask for the following documents so you need to prepare this to avoid any hassle.

Documents required:
Passport copy
Visa copy
Emirates ID copy (front and back)
Photo (size 2x3) - if you want your photo updated

You need to settle the service fees which can now be paid using various methods- credit card, cash or direct debit. Please note that if you have traffic fines, you need to settle this as well in order to process the replacement of lost driver’s license.

Service fees:
AED10 – Knowledge fees
AED110 – Replacing a lost or damaged driver’s license fees

Once paid, get the receipt and wait for your name to be called. If you would like to update your photo on your license, just give a copy to the counter and they will process. This will only take a few minutes.
