The Affects of Car Washes

Let’s face it, our cars are like our babies, we like to keep them well-kept and clean.

In a country like Dubai, where dust and sand lurk around every corner of the city, it’s no wonder the gas stations are always packed with dirty cars, awaiting their turn for their fresh polish and glimmering shine.

 Car Wash

Automatic car washes are cheap, quick and convenient! They are practically everywhere in Dubai, and we do mean everywhere!

You drive into the washing station with your filthy car, and within moments, you’re on your way out with your sparkling, polished car that shimmers from a distance.

But is this really the best solution for your car?

The process of cleaning the car using the automatic washing station is far from safe as it uses tools that can damage your car’s paint, and leaves behind swirls and scratches, by using tools such as chemicals that can easily break down the paint particles on your car’s polished coat.

Tough Chemicals & Brushes
Keeping in mind that sometimes dirt can be stubborn to remove, the chemicals used to clean the cars in the washing stations can always remove the toughest of dirt as they break the attachment of the dirt and the car’s paint.

The chemicals used in the car shampoo are comprised of a number of strong acids that can easily strip the protective coating.

If the dirt is stubborn enough not to be removed with the car shampoo, the rotating brush will scrub any excess dirt to give your car the clean look you want.

However, with the high speed of the rotation of the brushes, don’t be surprised if you find a few scratches and swirls all over your car.

High Pressured Water
High pressure water is a technique used to finally rid of all the pesky stubborn dirt particles that are stuck on your car.

With the help of the car shampoo, the high-pressure water blasts on the car to remove the dirt and the shampoo.

Should any dirt still remain on your car, it will make its way into your paint, doing completely the opposite of what you expect it to do.

Poor Drying Methods
Although the drying method seems to have dried most of the water on your car, some of the liquid may have been blown into one of the cracks between the paint on your car’s coat.

This can harm the paint and cause permanent damage to the coat.

What are the proper car wash solutions?

The best form of drying your car is to use a clean microfiber towel, and be sure to open your doors, trunks, hood and any other compartments of your vehicle that has been washed during the process.

Make sure that you are not reusing an old towel as it will not do a proper cleaning job, and if it already has dirt particles on it, it may cause more harm than good.
