A Youth Hostel is simple accommodation provided to budget travellers known as backpackers

Dubai and the Northern Emirates are not known for their youth hostels, but rather for luxury hotels, however there is a small niche that caters to backpackers that wish to come through Dubai. Unlike other countries that are popular amongst the backpacking community, it is illegal for a backpacker to source any kind of employment on a visitor’s visa while in the UAE.
There is one large youth hostel in Dubai. There are three more in the Northern Emirates in the towns of Sharjah, Fujairah and Khorfakkan respectively.
Youth hostels can be booked by the dormitory, single or double rooms and members of the UAE Youth Hostel association get the rooms at a discount as opposed to non-members. However if you are just passing through it is not worth getting a membership with the hostels as it costs as much as one night’s stay.
The maximum stay at the youth hostel is three days and reception is open 24 hours for anyone who wishes to check in.
The Dubai Youth hostel is located in Al Ghusais close to Dubai International Airport. The hostel has three buildings namely A, B and C and prices differ for each. The hostels all have air conditioning, tea and coffee facilities and a communal TV lounge. The hostel is located close to a bus stop and the metro station which makes access to the city both easy and safe. A taxi will be pricier but it is still cheap for European standards.
The Sharjah, Fujairah and Khorfakkan Youth Hostels are less expensive than the Dubai hostel. They are all located in the vicinity of the beach. Khorfakkan boasts a mountainous area, great for spending time in nature.
