Green Thumb or Brown Thumb? Don’t worry these plants are forgiving!

No house plant is indestructible; however, there are a tough few that cannot be beaten for their tolerance of light, water, and humidity. If you want easy success with house plants, we recommend the following power plants to brighten up your indoor space…

cactus in pots dubai

Cactus (Cactaceae family)

Because of its ability to store water and nutrients, a cactus seldom needs watering. They love to bask in the sun. The smaller they are, the easier they are to take care of. The larger ones tend to droop if they get too much water. These only need to be watered about once a month, making them great for the absent minded plant owner.

Heartleaf Philodendron (Philodendron scandens)
Also known as the Sweetheart Plant, this is the most popular of the philodendrons because this one stays small and it is so easy going. It's drought- tolerant. Philodendron are great because their leaves will grow like vines over the side of the pot and down towards the ground. They only need to be watered about once or twice a week. You can cut any dead leaves away and the rest of the plant will be saved.

Bamboo (Poaceae bambusoideae)
Often called lucky bamboo, this is the easiest plant to take care of. Put the stalks in a vase with some water and leave it alone. As the water in your vase evaporates, just add more. They will live in almost any light and any temperature as long as they are kept in water. If you want you spice things up a little, use a clear vase and put some pebbles or gems in the bottom.

Spider Plant (Chlorophytum comosum)
The spider plant is among the most popular and easiest to grow of all hanging or trailing houseplants. This is an impressive and easy plant for beginners. The stems produce little white flowers, and then are soon weighted down with plantlets. It prefers bright, indirect light- a hardy dependable plant.

The Rubber Plant (Ficus elastica)
The rubber plant is well known for improving indoor air quality. Its leaves are strong and hardy and can handle infrequent watering. They don't need a lot of light, so you could easily keep it on a shady shelf to add some greenery to a space.

Peace Lilies (Spathiphyllum)
There are many different types of Spathiphyllum. This is one of the hardiest potted plants. They can be almost to the point of death and given water, they will pop right back up. They can live with little to no natural light. If you take good care of them, and they get light and water, your plants will sprout pretty tall white flowers. If you ignore them, they will just have green leaves but will thrive.
