Oh, thanks very much for the information both of you! If she is no longer here that would explain why McGrudys cannot get hold of her. It sounds like its time for me to take my books and run, although I will check out linked in too.

If so, I wonder if someone could help put me in touch with her?

Its a bit of a long winded story, but I went to hear her talk along with her photographer Paul Thuysbaert about her oral history book about people in Dubai at the Dubai Literary Festival in March. I really enjoyed their talk but at the end we were told that their book was currently being reprinted and that if we put our name down at the end, McGrudys would ensure we got a copy. I went to speak with Julia and Paul at the end to find out whether if we ordered on the day, the ordered books would still have their signatures on them. They thought they would, so I ordered two copies. MacGrudys rang me just a week later to say they had got me two copies of the book, but when I enquired about getting them signed, they told me they weren't but they would try for me. They are sending me fortnightly emails to tell me they are still trying but they are having trouble getting hold of the author.

I'm impressed by McGrudys staying with with it, and to be honest, I may just decide to opt to collect the books without a signature, but I figure I've been waiting so long now I may as well give this one last shot! If anyone does know Julia, I'd be grateful if you could pass on my story to her - I will happily provide the contact details of the chap at MacGrudys that I've been dealing with, or alternatively, I can make another arrangement to get the books signed.
