there was a notice few weeks ago about bigger bits of rubbish left outside the bins...u have to ask to be collected and u have to pay for it.edited by Goose on 31/12/2010
Just searched for recycling/waste on Arabian ranches and this old thread came up. I am in Saheel and have been waiting for the waste collectors to take a broken picture frame and an old piece of wood by my bin....it has now been there for 3 weeks (been back in the UK for a while) and other people have now ADDED to my waste! Cheeky buggers have put a load of old planks of wood and stuff with my pile by MY bin!!! Looks awful! I will ring EMAAR on sunday but i just wondered if anyone had any idea about waste collection in Saheel - when I lived in Al Reem stuff like this was taken within a few days!TIA x

Yes, green bin in Saheel area is for recycle (but not glass), and the guy with his open truck (not the blue one) will collect on Tuesday.

Yes, I think Cryptic maybe lives on a Reem - we aren't treated to well over here! I am an avid recycler and just seem to bang my head against the wall over and over again!

Thanks johjoh, we're in Saheel and I thought everyone was the same, so we need highland Lass to tell us where she will be living.
Sorry moscow but I think you'll find that the different communities have different refuse collections - we are in Al Reem and our recycling was stopped 'until further notice' months and months ago. My friend in Saheel has a green bin for recycling and has hers collected. We take ours to the recycling centres near the security office or by the community centre. There is no strict rule that covers AR.
Er sorry Cryptic, but we do have recycling collections. The black bin is for general rubbish and the green is for paper, cans and plastic (not glass). Our gardener puts the waste in separate bags and puts them by the bins. I think they send another lorry round to pick it up - it disappears anyway!
