We moved to JVC in September. How quickly you get your Du up and running depends on how established your block is. We moved into a new block that was very a more established block with Du and it probably took 2 months for Du to set up the connections. We're happy, can't wait for the day there's more access routes, but the rent is exceedingly cheap for your square footage and our dewa bills are far less than what we were paying on a 3 bed in Springs with a large garden.

You don't get a choice. One or the other will be the sole provider for your development. Most likely it'll be Du.

Is there power line pylons running near or through JVC or is that JVT? Am confused which is which.....

Im sure you will be able to get a nursery closer to your accommodations. Jumeira (the real one!) is quite a drive away. JVC and JVT are not really in Jumeira and I dont really understand why everything is called Jumeira when its not even in the vicinity.

Thanks for your replies :-) We have decided to go for a townhouse in JVC. Yes I do drive, so hopefully we won't feel too isolated. Can anyone advise as to how long it will take to get an internet connection and Satellite TV up and running please? Who is the better service Provider, Du or Etisalat?

I just moved into JVC from Motor City, and so far I am loving it here. I was a little concerned as well b/c it is a huge construction site, but the rental prices are so cheap they more than make up for it! My kids go to Wellington Academy in DSO, which is about a 20-25 minute drive for me. It's not that bad b/c it's all highway, so it goes very quick. I havnt gotten my first DEWA bill, but after paying those enormous EMICOOL charges in Motor City, I dont think it will be that bad. Let me know if you have any more questions..

we are also in JVC (the threads about huge DEWA bills & gas problems pertain to JVT) 
dubai is a construction site, it is just the degree of it that varies from area to area. our area is settled, have pavements, grass, proper roads. we have 2 shops around the corner (in the lavendar buildings) + a furniture store + a salon for men. on the other side, where the atlantis accommodation is, there are 2 more shops, another hairdresser, a clinic as well as a pharmacy.
i agree, you need a car to be living out there but motorcity is 10mins away and MOE is 15mins drive. the tecom bridge is open (d611) and that links you to sheikh zayed road in 5 mins.
our dewe bill is similar to missy moo's ... in the middle of summer, with watering our garden twice a day, for a 3 bedroomed villa = 1,400 p/m

@ lucylou - I live in JVC and Im very happy here its quiet, yes its under construction (but hey there are places like that in the marina that are too), Its cheap, you do need a car out here. More shops are opening, but I havent checked them out. Motor City and Springs are only a few mins drive. Schools I cant answer but I do know that my neighbours have kids but not sure what schools they attend, I know one is picked up by bus if that helps  Kids all seem to mingle here and play outside, they seem pretty happy.
As for DEWA our highest bill has only been DHS 1400.00 Incl housing (during summer).
Its all to what you want, its not for everyone but Im now loving my sleep. Also its funny the villas here are going very quickly. There is progress with the construction and little things like paving, but again its what suits you
@ shanks & salsB - I think youd find that the high DEWA bills are for JVT not JVC :P
Ive been here 6 months and I cook a fair bit and im still yet to use a gas bottle!

You will be in the middle of nowhere!!! do you drive, a car will be essential. I don't live there but have friends that do. Been afew threads about the Dewa costs recently.

Do a search on EW there was a few people complaining about huge DEWA bills and also the cost of cooking gaz.

Hi, we have recently viewed a villa in Jumeirah village circle, which we really like, but we are not sure if the location is suitable for us. Can anyone please give me any advice about living in this area? Are there any facilities open yet? where is the nearest grocery shop or supermarket? Where are the closest nursery and primary schools? What are the Dewa costs like? Any help would be much appreciated :-) thanks
