Thought I'd share as my dd oes to DBS in the springs. This is the letter we all got. This is not the first time it's happened here.
Following my email at the end of last month, we have again received reports of children being approached by strangers in the vicinity of the school.
We have been notified today that a female secondary school student was approached by man in a car at the end of last week. Fortunately a parent from our school was passing and escorted the girl to a group of friends. In addition, a primary pupil was approached by a Western woman in the ‘Town Centre’ complex today and asked to get into her car. Fortunately, his mum found him before anything more serious happened.
Again, please be especially vigilant at this time and reinforce with your children that they should never get into a stranger’s car. Also, where ever possible, they should walk in groups. We will also be highlighting these issues once more in school assemblies and in the classroom.
We are looking further into this and have once again alerted the police and Emaar security and they will be stepping up their presence in the area.

Which schools do NOT have cctv around their perimeter? We need to know, as there is a lot of complacency going on. A lot of parents don't really care today, here in Dubai. They are all so relaxed, and kids are out and about all by themselves. How many of you would allow a group of 14/15 yr olds to rent a chalet, unaccompanied, knowing there will be alcohol, for a night? Once I learned of this, I knew I was the odd one out. I can think of quite a few and of course actually taking action when incidents are reported would help!

Oh my gosh, this is so scary!! And people wonder why I put my girls on leashes at times (they are 3 years old and you should see the looks of disgust I get, but one got lost for a few mins in Dragon Mart the other day and i lost half my life with fear) edited by fairycakeyumm on 28/11/2011

I was visiting a friend in Meadows 6 last Sunday and saw 2 police cars at the gate. I wonder if it had anything to do with this incident. There appeared to be a policeman talking to a Mother and her daughther along with the security guard from Meadows. That is very scary

OP thank you for sharing. On the note, it is hard time to picture a woman asking these sort of things.

I don't think the people are being caught. They get away. Also it's happening within the school car park they need a better security system at the school.

What I don't understand is why these people aren't being stopped. If someone asked my son to get into her car - and I found him before it happened - I would tear that woman to bits and sit on her until the police came. The man in the car - maybe not, but I'd get a very good description of the man and the car ... EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!

i think parents should bring this up with schools all over.....there must be some kind of educational classes to educate our children from the dangers out there. I try as much to make my DD understand, but then again, she is only 3.....!

Bump for the morning ladies. To make sure we are educating our children about strangers.
