Am discussing parameters, rules etc with DS about using Facebook. What dos and don'ts do you have with your child before they started using FB?

Tell him that you will have his password and log on to his account regularly. This is what my SIL did. This was her condition to let her son register and she checks regularly what he is doing on FB. Security settings are also important.

Make sure he only adds people that he knows! And let him be very very careful with pic, it happened to me once that some silly girl I didn't even know used my profile pic on her profile. I don't think you can do anything about that. Don't post telephone numbers!

Make sure his security settings are set as high as is possible, that way he is in complete control of what other people see about him.

Do be aware that you could end up in court/jail if you're not careful. Don't name people in arguments, don't insult people, don't take the **** out of people. Do be nice, do be aware that what you say is never, ever private and can be held against you. Don't give out personal detail or contact details. Do be careful what photos you post.
