so when did you have to give notice by and when did they have to give notice by? maybe they missed the deadline.

Do you have the contact details of your LL? or if not, his name, maybe one of us has his contact details or can get them.

It just make me so angry because I feel they are trying to tie us in legal knots. We are already too late to give notice to quit since we had no intention of moving, so now they are saying we have to sign it.

I don't want to! We are signing away any rights as tenants and the management company are really taking the mickey.

There is actually a clause there saying we agree not to speak to the landlord directly under penalty!

Seriously?

i know in abu dhabi the rules are that they cannot just change the terms etc from last time. and yes they are now able to charge you again for doing the renewal, ours is thru a bank and they charge 200dhs for a renewal of residential more for commercial etc. it was 1k in the first instance to do the first contract, those are the rules here in ad at least, dont know if quite the same in dxb.

Wow!!! That is very unfair. Are you in a compound? Have your neighbours also been given contracts like that? You should maybe find out. I would be very unhappy

It also states that we legally have ONE allocated parking space (we have a dual carport!) and have been given one remote for the compound gate, with instructions to purchase a second if we need it for dhs500!

For the last 6 years we had 2 remotes, but they just changed the mechanism.

Just got new contract through from the management company for year 7 in our rental villa.

Rather than the usual blue contract form they have produced a 30 page contract with all sorts of additional clauses, some which benefit the landlord, most which benefit the agent and all to the detriment of the tenant.

For example: if we terminate early, we have to give 3 months notice (same as last year) but have to vacate after 30 days and pay 2 months as forfeiture to the landlord. In addition the management company will charge us a penalty of 5% of the annual rental plus 1000 dhs admin fee.

We have to have written permission for animals, which we had verbal before, or they can throw us out after 14 days without returning our rent payments.

That.s just two examples, there a thirty pages!

Agent tried to tell me it was new policy with rera

Anyone know anything about this or is ** trying it on?

They are also trying to charge 500 dhs renewal admin fee.
