update: going to Zurich from DXB - no way only 100mls allowed, on return back from Manchester no problem, they sealed the bag and it went through the x-ray machine at Zurich, they just asked when I bought it, the receipt was in the clear sealed bag, no problem - one bottle of lovely champagne ready for Christmas.
Don't understand why they can't seal the bag in DXB ......

I think there's a problem with liquids on a transfer flight, but best to ask at the airport.
Now if you like dark chocolate you need to stop at Sprüngli in Zurich airport, possibly the best dark chocolate (fresh truffles and plain bars) in the world.

What I meant is that if you aren't on a direct flight you can't transfer your duty-free (liquid) shopping as you have to go through another security check. And Zurich duty-free is not cheap.

Hope it's not too late but as far as I'm aware you can't buy duty-free in Dubai flying via Zurich to the UK. There are duty-free shops in Zurich but they are expensive so they aren't really worth it. We flew Dubai-Zurich-Dublin in April this year...

If she was transiting through Dubai that may be a different kettle of fish and she may have already got her allowance.....
I have previously bought Duty free out here when transiting via Heathrow going towards spain and that was no problem.

Don't buy alcohol at Zurich Duty-Free, cheaper in English supermarkets.. Not sure about other stuff..
