12000 steps in Abu Dhabi?

Decided to post here after trying my luck at the Abu dhabi boards.

Have started walking to lose weight. So previously (for about 12 days) I did 4000 steps (about 3km) per day. Just recently read that in order to use walking as a weight loss plan, need to do between 12000-15000 steps a day.

I am determined and will be walking (and jogging c25k) for an hour in the morning from 7:00-8:15 am taking the Abu dhabi corniche route down and then going to work.

If anyone would like to join me please let me know. This will be 5 days a week sun-thu.

Till now I have been using a pedometer app on my iPhone, however I am considering getting a pedometer with heart rate monitor for this purpose... Might encourage me to reach my daily goal and to move in the range required for weight loss.

GoodMorning, sorry for the delayed reply.
I would luv to share results on a daily basis and yes, could use all the motivation i can get to reach 12000. Its not as easy as it seemed . How would you suggest we do it though? I have joined (my third time on and off there) and this time I am hoping to stay focussed and on it.

So far I have clocked about 7000-8000 steps max on average per day.. that is about 5 - 5.5km per day. Since doing the c25k will gradually increase the distance, i am keeping that as my training.

You mentioned you are using ur pedometer... may i ask which brand and how is it? do you wear it all day?
