A cause I support. In my country there is no need for this, but in so many countries women are not allowed to speak their mind.

Let's bump this thread for all the women who do not have a voice!!

Thank you.

If you read my OP you see that I address that women are allowed to speak their mind. In my country they are. In a lot of countries women are not. Thats why I asked to bump, just to support the women who do not have the liberty to speak their mind. Ah, a communications break-down, obviously. Your first post states that International Women's Day is "A cause I support. In my country there is no need for this, but in so many countries women are not allowed to speak their mind." It sounded as though you were saying that in your country there was no need for International Women's Day. But hey, at least our 'conversation' is keeping the thread at the top. ;) ETA Moreover, I do believe, just quietly, that even in developed countries, many women can't speak their minds. They are subject to domestic violence, prostitution, trafficking ... and many of these issues are preventing women from having a real voice. :) . edited by WaxMuch on 07/03/2011

Waxmuch you are missing the point. You're correct. I'm failing to see what point you're trying to make, to be honest. International Women's Day is a worldwide event which is commemorated by women in many nations. And just because women from developed nations believe they have a voice doesn't necessarily mean that there aren't women from their very own countries who are still desperately needing and fighting to be heard. And that includes the Netherlands. :)
