havent the foggiest...just need it for music and I know they have lots of capacity...pretty sure my wee shuffle has more than we will ever need. Just want to get a docking station, and ipod as a stereo. Thanks for the link and the suggestions...am off to do battle in the shops.

Do you know what capacity you require? How large do you want (like a good screen, or small for jogging) there is a new nano which is fairly small but with good capacity. The following should help you a little. I would buy from C4 personally. http://www.apple.com/ipod/

Firstly whatever you do - DO NOT go to Jacky's - absolutely dreadful customer service! There are loads of different kinds of IPods now, I guess what you need to ask is: do you want to see on the screen what is playing? How many songs will you actually want to upload (rough guestimate)?
