Hi all

I thought i was being super thoughful when i asked a friend who was in the States to get me the full Starwars movies on DVD for my hubby. I knew they were only available on Blu-ray but forgot to think about the stupid 'regions' that still exist on players. Blue Ray from the States in Region 1 and machines sold here are region 2...and apparently there is no where to get them 'programmed' so they become multi-regional. Anyway, i'm sure there must be some small shop in Satwa, etc that do it. Does anyone know? AT the moment, i'll be giving him the DVD's but without anything to play them on!

TIA

Thanks Claire and Sage. I have done the multi-region thing with my normal dvd player but as i understand it, it's different on blu-ray machines. I haven't bought one yet but will look at your link Sage which will hopefully help with what brand i buy.

If you google the make and model of your machine you should find a code to enter on the remote control that makes it multi region we have done this with most of our DVD players its really easy and works brilliantly

You can "hack" certain blue ray players, list the make and model of your drive and i will see if there is information on on it If its a hardware coded model, it becomes more difficult if not impossible, some can be chipped.. but its a real pain There are some region free models sold on the market see http://www.220-electronics.com/dvd/multi_region_blu_ray_dvd_player.htm

Hey Mrs Chef, You can get them on DVD as well as Blu Ray. Depending on the brand/model, you can either go to Bur Dubai and get it chipped (will play all regions) or download a code from the internet which you can programme your DVD via the remote. TBH, the quickest and also probably cheapest way (or for a little extra money) is to go out and buy a Blu Ray player. Fairly cheap and even more so on Dubizzle!
