Since 2 1/2 years I have been living in a very nice compound villa with 3 other people next to Media City, little garden, nice atmosphere, perfect location. The place was my home, but unfortunatelly the landlord is leaving Dubai. Even if we got good friends and she always said that I should take over the house in case she leaves the country, she gave notive and only afterwards gave me the information :-( Then it was already too late for me transfering the contract under my name as people have been already been interessted.

I spoke to the property management company and they said that for sure I would have had priority if they would have known. I am now trying everything still to keep this house, but it seems that the chanced are zero :-((((( It is very sad as I settled down in this house and it became my home.

Just wanted to share and if anyone has the brilliant idea who I could keep this house, please let me know :-)

Are you absolutely sure the arrangement you had was 100% legal? I'd make sure of that before I try involving people high up the food chain. what do you mean exactly? You mean that sub-letting rooms is not welcome!? of course it is illegal. crikey. even local guys are having properties and renting out the rooms to different people, even mixed sexes. Doesn't mean it's legal, though, does it? no

if you have spoken to the company that manage the properties, and spoken to the LL then there is probably not much else you can do. You mentioned hoping to be able to prioritse yourself on the waiting list, but what about people who have genuinely been on the waiting list already for some time?

Don't they have to give you a long notice to leave? Up to a year? not if you are subletting and the person who is on the lease gave notice..... Your "friend" stiffed you; sorry to say it. The lady who is on the lease gave me 1 month notice as agredd when I rented the room in the house. But, yep, I am also very disappointed that she did not talk to me before giving notice to the property management. then I would have been able to take the house over quite easy. Thanks girls for listing to me, it is very hard for me to leave this place, my home and so far I did not found anything suitable. does not make sense to speak to the new tentants, or? :-( edited by SuessMyriam on 08/06/2012

If nobody else has signed a contract for it yet - can you not just contact the agent and tell him you want to take it and sign up right away? I have contacted them, but the contract for the new guys was already in preparation :-( 2 days ago I spoke with them again and I think they could understand my sadness and said they are going to call me back on that issue. When I got back to them yesterday they said that they will get back to me for sure, I just have to be little patient...I do not know if they are trying to keep me in the house or just wanna give me more information on the waiting list. Should not hope too much, otherwise will be too disappointed... :-(
