So do I. Have to say it's been awhile since I saw any with a face like that. I do wonder though, I smiled and said hello to a man yesterday and he gave me a look like I'd just eaten his firstborn. I'm puzzled why it's so hard to say hi back? Probably does it to everyone! My comment about being annoyed was meant be annoyed at the people who dither over what they want, since they're usually the reason it takes awhile to get what you want, not the crew who are passing stuff flat chat. I asked one of my friends about the makeup thing, she said it's like anything- up to the person to decide if it's doable for them within what the religion says. Plenty of nonspecific areas I guess.

Penny, no need for sad faces, my complaint is with the ones who make me repeat the entire exchange for their whole row, when they've clearly been watching & listening for the last 5 minutes and had plenty of time to decide what they want. Not people who might ask me a question or two about their order. If we havec300 or 400 people and every one asks me to list the whole contents of the bar cart, each seat, each row, it explains why it might take awhile to get a drink :-) [b'>Be annoyed at those people, not the crew haha.[/b'>I was going to say, many beauty products contain alcohol yet a lot of muslim women havevno issue using them..? i get annoyed when the crew have faces like slapped @rses and wonder why they do the job if they hate it so much....

There's a lot more alcohol in your average lipstick than in Coke. I would worry more about the 10 teaspoons of sugar in each can. The minute trace in Coke is 0.001 per cent alcohol while any lipstick can ususally contain up to 5% alcohol. There's alcohol in so many items, on an average day we probaly consume a measurable amount. Canned fruits juices and cordials can contain 1-43 mg/litre. Dijon mustard is made with wine, Naturally Brewed Soy Sauce has up to 3% alcohol. Coffee machine capsules contain Shellac (a secretion from a ground beetle) which is processed with alcohol, and many toothpastes, Dunkin Doughnuts, even infant formula, the list goes on and on.

excuse my ignorance ... but even if there is a trace of alcohol it's [u'>still[/u'> in the product, what about banned vanilla extract then, that's banned - yes/no?

Pretty sure it means what I said below, that some Muslims choose soft drinks as a 'party' or 'fun' drink instead of alcohol. The only other options are juice or water or milk so....that's what I take it to mean.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what does that suppose to mean "Muslims praying at the Paris great Mosque: Many people regularly drink Cola because their religion forbids them from drinking alcohol"?

In my personal opinion, Pepsi is much sweeter tasting to me than Coke. If you are a Coke person, you know the difference. I believe the reason that certain regions are more Pepsi prone is because they got into the markets first and that is what they were introduced to first. I don't know this for fact, but I think I read this somewhere a long time ago. I agree with Gorobattie in that I drink way more than is probably good for me. I read that you would have to drink 13,000 Cokes to feel the effects. Fortunately, I am just about 12,999 and safe! Speaking of Coke, I'm off to open one right now. Cheers. hmmm So its a relief to be 'safe' from the alcohol but just happily bring on the tooth decay...... How anyone (especially an adult) can drink this **** is beyond me!

Given a choice, we prefer Pepsi here, but CocaCola in the UK!

Yes because all of us poor people in economy are just horrible, revolting drunks with absolutely no manners MissFortune.... Obviously I was referring to how busy the cabin is, not the type of people in it. I travel in economy alot myself, (this morning actually) and given the choice I would prefer business or first. I've never heard of anyone that was angry after being give an upgrade to be in a less busy cabin. That goes for crew and customers. Imagine the choice of feeding a family of 12 or 395.... I know what I'd pick. Back to the topic, I have noticed Pepsi is very popular in the Asian/Arabic region. As I don't drink either, I'm wondering.....is it sweeter? edited by flydiver11 on 29/06/2012 I think most foods and beverages produced in or for this region are way sweeter than the same brand product in the West, for example Nestle fruit yogurts here are way too sweet for my taste but in the UK they are palatable.

Yes, it was in reference to how busy it is, esp on certain routes. Rude people come in all cabins, just as the nice ones do ;) After ten rows of this repetition: "Would you like something to drink? We have alcoholic & non-alcoholic cold drinks" "Coffe thanks" "Sr, this is the cold drinks service, tea and coffee will come after the meal, we have juices, soda, water, spirits, beer, wine" "I'll have juice" "We have orange, apple, pineapple, mango, tomato" "Don't you have cranberry?" "Sorry, no, just those five" "Alright I've have a soft drink then" (why cant they just say coke/pepsi etc?) "We have Coke, Pepsi, 7Up, tonic, soda, diet coke, diet pepsi, diet 7UP" "Got Mirinda?" (Crew, thinking, I would have said if I did!) "No sir, I do not have Mirinda. I can put 7UP and orange juice together if you like" "Nah I think I'll have a beer then" (Repeat process) "Okay, pepsi thanks, three cubes of ice not four and a slie of lemon" Give drink, move to next person, who has been watching the WHOLE TIME. "What do you have?" ARRRRRRGH!!!! Repeat x250 Now you see why some of us MIGHT say it's a little bit trying... LOL ;) In premium cabins they tend to tell you exactly what they want, with ice, no lemon before you can even finish asking if they'd like a drink... i've often wondered what the crew are thinking when they serve us - now i know :(

If it gets pulled off the shelves here's the original "secret" recipe exposed, it originally had far more 'interesting' ingredients. http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/427/original-recipe/recipe [i'>Combine those with 8 ounces of [b'>food grade alcohol[/b'>. This ingredient, we'll be frank, will be kind of a pain in the ass to find. Important: Do NOT use Ethyl Rubbing Alcohol or Rubbing Alcohol or Denatured Ethyl Alcohol. These will make you sick. You need food grade ethyl alcohol. Sometimes people swap Everclear or other neutral grain spirits for this, and our beverage guys suggest this as an easy, cheap substitute. [/i'>

what would make it haram is if it had a mind altering effect due to alcohol, which it doesn't (although the caffeine sure does!) Most muslims would agree that if it has alcohol in it then it should be avoided. It is the same as offering a Muslim a cake that was baked with alcohol in it, and saying that it has all evaporated during the cooking process…….they would decline it all the same. Fair enough, just relaying the message I heard; I know a lot of people will avoid it now as it their prerogative...good that it's been exposed anyway

SkyKitty I'm assuming you're not a grade 2, so well done for helping out in Economy. After a bar cart in Y Class you've earned all the coke you want...... Plus a splash of rum ;) Yes because all of us poor people in economy are just horrible, revolting drunks with absolutely no manners I don't think that's what she meant! Economy is obviously much busier with more pax and pretty much every flight I've been on there's been at least one person hitting the booze way too hard and/or being rude to other pax/crew....I guess with smaller business/first cabins the probability of getting someone difficult is lower as there are just fewer people...anyway the job they do is hectic. Always thought it looked like an easy job but have completely changed my mind on that For Coke drinking Muslims, I heard a cleric or minister (can't remember which) on the radio yesterday saying that a trace amount isn't haram - what would make it haram is if it had a mind altering effect due to alcohol, which it doesn't (although the caffeine sure does!)

SkyKitty, I have bought Cottee's on occasion here, there is a local agent and I think it might be Choithrams. My dad is a Cottee's diehard cordial fan and I like their ice cream sauce, and we have found both here over the years. I will update after I speak to the grocery store manager.

I'm hoping the point was made in reference to how busy the crew are in economy, and not due to the behaviour of the passengers.
