Captian America, the brand was Hillshire Farms. I got the Honey Roasted, but there were other types as well. OK, I saw Hillshire Farms smoked sausage in Spinneys, but my kids won't eat that brand :( Thanks **Makes mental note: Make sure future kids eat everything in case of Turkey-Gate** I honestly buy whatever is there, there's some decent regional stuff available. At least they're not semi transparent slices.. It is actually ok....those cured meats are not good for the health...now they just get homemade sliced chicken or salmon. all is good....no turkey-gate going on.

I had been looking for turkey slices since I returned two weeks ago from abroad. Today -- I found some at Safa Park Choithram's. Have a whole load of turkey and other American products in. I would think they will start showing up at all groceries fairly soon. Yeah. Has anyone seen Crisco premeasured bars. I can only find the tins.Really? Which brand turkey? TIA if only one could find a friendly butcher........... and not too over-friendly :D

I have sent a letter to 7days asking them to investigate the disappearance of American turkey products from our shelves. We are at least owed a proper explanation. My kids have turkey sandwiches every day and this is a real pain not having turkey. Have also sent a letter to Butterball asking what is going on and when they are going to return. I understand about the kids and their sandwiches and if these products dont come back on the shelves then it will be a problem in this house as well - my son who's severly autistic has had turkey bacon for his breakfast for years now and goodness knows what will happen when what I have in the freezer runs out. The reality is that this kind of thing happens all over the world - I'm thinking of Asda stopping production of their teddy bear chicken nuggets overnight. Its life. Do I think we're owed and explanation - no. edited by DesertRose1958 on 17/10/2012 edited by DesertRose1958 on 17/10/2012 Have you tried your Spinneys branch? Oscar Mayer turkey bacon has been located in the oink oink section in Mirdif branch, but this was what was on the regular shelves before, and is not oink, but due to the dispute, has been banished for now.

Well,I am happy to provide you all with a morning chuckle. I didn't realize how much i missed the turkey until they took it away! now i am displeased by the silliness of it all. I suppose we will have to have ham sandwiches for lunch. ps cannot do turkey bacon, the real thing or none at all and the 'rolls' of local stuff is just so unappetising to look at that it will never get a chance. thanks for sharing ladies.

Wouldnt be so bad, if the local or alternatives were nice, the problem is they aren't - IMHO true. it is not looking very promising right now.

I see other makes of turkey roasts and smoked turkey on the deli counters, are those not ok or the same? Could you not use them instead for the sandwiches, just wondering what is the difference as I have not tried either. edited by Di@DXB on 17/10/2012 yes - plenty of this in c4, i do love a good turkey salad for dinner!

I *heard* that is was some people trying to stir up things like they did with the youtube video....they like to see the reaction of those in this region when they get fired up. I don't know if it is true, but it is damaging businesses in many countries...... Hitting us where it hurts? Turkey???

I have found an alternative that my kids will eat, 1905 brand from Spinneys is ok. There is turkey bacon (Oscar mayer) in the oink section at Spinneys too.
