Hey Ladies, I used to tupper a lot back in Germany and now here I thought it might be a nice idea to start this here as well. I am convinced of the products but would like to know what you say?
It's a new experience to live in Dubai and I am still in my orientation phase, therefore I wanted to ask you ladies, if you would be interested in having tupperware parties or if you could imagine people would be interested in having some?
Would be thankful for any feedback.

I went to a Tupperware party once, back home. Would never go again though, nor would I invite my friends to one. Basically you trick them into buying stuff they don't need, because most would buy something to be kind to the Tupperware lady and the host. Besides, it is too expensive. Lots of cheaper options available these days. Trick is a bit harsh - everyone who goes to the party must realise there'll be an obligation to buy something !! I've been to lots of parties in the past for all sorts of things and there has always been an expectation that the guests will repay the hospitality with an order, that's how they work... But I agree that Tupperware is expensive - it always has been, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's not good value. Many of us still have items that were bought decades ago and are still going strong..

The range of plasticware in the shops here is huge and really cheap, I doubt anyone could market Tupperware cheap enough to be viable...

Not sure you can legally sell it here without some kind of a business/import license.

This is sort of a tough one. On one hand, tupperware offers so many unique designs that you'd be hard pressed to find here, but the price could be a factor when there is so much other options at so many different price points. Travola carried some very limited items of tupperware awhile back but I don't see them anymore and, of course, the cost was prohibitive for me. I'd give it some thought. Perhaps if you could be a supplier and market it to all different shops you would have a better shot. I don't see the party idea really taking off here. Even Avon is sold outright through people here -- I have never heard of anyone having an avon party.

Interesting thread - I have a Tupperware bowl at home that I used almost daily and it's over 40 years old !! lol The comments about the dishwasher are probably fair - dishwashers weren't around when the original Tupperware was made..maybe the newer stuff isn't as good.. There's masses of choice here in plastic storage so I don't think it would take off - too expensive and it's biggest value, longevity, is an outdated idea in my opinion...
