IMO it goes 2 ways. She cannot go if/when it doesn't suit you. However you cannot make her go at a time she doesn't want to go. You would have to mutually agree on the timing. Having your privacy invaded upon is part of the deal when employing a maid. You cannot make her take her holidays just because you need the house to yourself.

Hi can you please give me some advise. My maid is overdue for holidays and she wants to go to Jordan in August. We are happy to pay for her ticket to Jordan or the Phillipines but the problem is July /Aug does not suit me as we are away and have a dog. I feel I need a break in my own house without her and really would like her to take a couple of weeks off in June. The maid does not want to go in June, she says the Phillipines is too expensive and Jordan is not safe and she wants to travel in Aug she has friends there who will take time off then. What do I do? thankyou If she knows you have the dog and that is part of her job then that is just too bad - she can't go in August.

I would say that she must go when it suits you. The whole purpose of her being in your home is to help take care of things, and if she is of no help to you then you require a new maid.
