Hi all, I have a 2.5yr old son, he reached all his motor milestones on time, seems to b pretty intelligent as he can handle the ipad better than me, does all age appropriate puzzles and remembers where things are kept. He knows the functions of common things like keys, spoon, eyeglasses etc. my concern is that he does not look me or other people in the eye as much as he should, does not speak sentences, does not point to objects, does not say mama. He babbles a lot, plays pretend with his plastic animals which he loves, he knows what the animals are called.
He loves to cuddle and hug and smiles and laughs a lot. He turns when his name is called but only rarely. His hearing and eyesight is fine.

I'm really confused and concerned. Have booked an appointment with specialist pediatrician next week. But anyone out there.....if u can give me some input as to how serious this could b. Really appreciate it if anyone can reply ASAP.

Hello, just wanted u all to know that I took my son to the specialist pediatrician today, he thinks that it is just a speech delay and not autism. The difference he said was that my son understands what is said to him. He said never to compare kids, which was what I was doing....I started to cry over there. Thank u all for ur support when I needed it.....I pray for the kids and families affected by any sort of disorder....I know how u feel. Still will go for a second opinion after one week....and speech therPy will start soon too.

I think you are doing the right thing getting him checked out. He may be fine, but you need to have him seen by a professional to settle your doubts. My nephew is autistic and fortunately they had him diagnosed before the age of 3. I hope your little guy is fine, but in the event that he isn't - the absolute best thing that you can do for him is get him an early diagnosis. All the best, let us know how you go xox

I think no one replay to this thread because there is no much things to say. You need a profisional advice. I don't have any experience with autism but logged on to wish you all the best you and your little one.
