I like the Kylie ones although i got the Matt and its a little dull looking after a while, but a bit of lip balm over top keeps its soft looking. I also got younique lip stains, my goodness really good, they actually last (even slept in it ha ha) but just be careful if you get it on your fingers. But you have to know someone who sells younique products (i don't sell BTW).

Calpol, from memory (son is older now) they sell something that is called calpol but according to my son tastes nothing like the normal calpol so I would bring it or get people to bring you some out when they visit. \ Co-codamol is banned here not sure what else, all other medicines you can buy over the counter. Cant help with the other queries about toddlers as mine are much older now. Good luck.

No she writes me a shopping list each week of what food stuff she needs, I also get her basic toiletries such as shower cream and body lotion, but recently she's started writing which particular brand of whitening lotion she wants and asking for allsorts of stuff, I just give her back the list and tell her those are luxury items and if she wants them she has to pay for them herself, they are +150 aed that she is asking for, I already pay her a decent salary and were not hard work to clean up after. Her contract expires in October. :-)

I was offered the same treatment, I started out with acne only a couple of years ago (at 35) never had it as a teen, I refused and tried a huge variety of natural and not so natural products to keep my skin under control. I would get huge acnes lumps under skin on side of my face and chin only no where else. The only things I found actually worked were the boots no7 al in one face wipes, white packet for taking my make up off and murad facial cleanser and the spot treatment to put on the actual spot from boots chemist (this reduced the swelling and redness overnight). I also stopped wearing heavy foundation and powder and only use the BB cream the garnier 3 in 1 and this seems to (touch wood, 3 months and no major lumps few small ones but nothing like the volcanoes I had) have subsided, I am still left with the scarring on my cheeks though :-( It is a very individual thing treating your acne as I found out what worked for others did not work for me, I tried some products that were recommended and I ended up in a much worse state than before. I struggled to find a decent dermo too they seemed to be too quick to say its hormonal or diet take my money and shove me off with a prescription. Good luck. x

I'm sick of mine at minute too, I have (guilty) been far too soft and let the boundaries of employer/employee get crossed. I have made decision that come renewal it wont be getting renewed. She moved MY kitchen around not once but twice without saying/asking, rearranged all my cupboards, continually asks for luxury face creams on her weekly shopping list (stuff I wouldn't even buy myself), must have lots of hair I cant see the amount of shampoo she goes through!! Enough is enough, I will be tough egg with the next one! I would say to her if she doesn't like it, she can find a new employer, I have had only 2 maids since I was here, no issue with the first, my kids also adored her, but they moved on and whilst this one is good, I am just finding that she is annoying me more and more with the things she does and the attitude. You will find another one who is good with your kids. Good luck.

Same for my son, we have been trying for 6 years to get exemption and every year it is rejected, he is dyslexic and has dyspraxia, to be fair he no longer goes to learning support classes since we got an Ed Pshyc on the case she was fantastic and said he would be better in regular classes but with exemption from Arabic to spend time on strategy works (handwriting will never improve) so stuff like organising his work and things like this. He has 1 more year left before he can drop it he only just scraped a pass in his end of year exams with it (no idea how) he's ok with spoken but cannot write Arabic. When I spoke to the people at KHDA they told me he would have to be classed as having severe learning difficulties to get exemption :-(

I also have not been able to find, as an alternative I use Zomig have you tried them? In UK you can get to zomig spray which is very effective but only tablets I have seen here but they seem to work well for me also as I have struggled to find migraine relief that works. I find imigran are of no use for me :-(

Egg, what would be your other choices? weather would be another consideration. we love Dubai for the weather! It really is personal choice, I've been all over the world but absolutely adore Portugal, that is where I would go, but as others have said its a decision for you and a place you love and feel could work for you. Good luck whatever you decide, like any country, some are more expensive than others but that really depends on what quality of life you want, I agree Australia is expensive, I went there for a holiday and cost me a small fortune, but for me hearing my friends talk about all 3 countries, each has their own downfalls and own amazingness (ha ha is it a word?) Wherever you lay your hat and all that you just somehow make it work (certainly what I have done, you make the best of it) Best of luck. x

I would be more inclined to go for Australia, personal choice, if they were [u'>my[/u'> only 3 options, I have friends who have gone to all 3 locations you mentioned, some to open business, others for retirement etc and those who have gone to Oz seem the happiest and seem to be doing ok with their options, US ones are looking to go somewhere else and French said its difficult if you do not speak the language etc.

I was thinking logistics, movers will be at our house in DXB don't want to go to AUH, come back to DXB, then sort movers, then go back to AUH etc, thought it would be easier logistically to board them here for few days while we get movers sorted then let them loose in new place.

If your insurance covers it, I would definitely recommend Dr Mazin at Dubai Mall clinic, he is fabulous and will definitely recommend best thing to do, he is very thorough and I can honestly say the treatment I received from him was amazing. I have recommended him several times to different people and they have not been disappointed. My insurance no longer covers me at his clinic, but I still choose to pay and see him myself.

I would also consider nearer school, we live in Motorcity my DS goes to school in Jumeirah (15 min drive by car) school starts at 07:50 , he gets picked up by bus at 06:30, so even though they say its not too far, seriously its huge. I have friends who live in Silicon and they love it.

I think that during Ramadan the Outlet mall do a collection and they accept glasses, not sure about anyone else, Red crescent can be extremely picky about what they will accept, maybe hang on to them until Ramadan and drop them in to the collection point at Outlet Mall.

Driving along the Corniche in the right lane which mergers into one due to roadworks and a woman literally comes so close to my left side to push in my car sensors went to red. She was unable to move forward due to the barrier however, at the next set of traffic lights, her car cut straight in front of me, parked at a side angle (while the lights went green) and proceeded to scream that this is her Emirate and she had right of way. WTH? Indicated she would call the police before driving off..... Unbelievable some drivers here. You should have let her call the police. Against a local I would stand a chance me thinks. What happens if she does call the police and what should I do? I was involved in a car accident with a local lady, she whizzed across 6 lanes to take a turn off she missed and whacked straight into me writing off my car, I was lucky to escape with a few cuts and bruises, the police were excellent, even though she tried to wriggle out of it, they called an investigation team to come who confirmed she was in the wrong and they proceeded to give her the slip that states its her fault. Just for information.

It is still an extremely popular route. But many companies will not pay out housing allowance unless you relocate to AUH - so just keep an eye on that. Its not a requirement to live in AD they have said, thanks all for the info, car sharing is an option so he can take turns driving. We may consider shifting to AD in the future but its half way through school year etc so not wanting to do that just yet.

Hi, after several :"bad" cardiologists, we were advised to go and see Dr. Mohamed Sulaiman at Dubai Mall Clinic, he looked after my DS and was fantastic, his approach was really spot on and my DS felt comfortable with him, he got to the root of the problem and was really great. I would definitely just say though, that if you are unhappy with whom ever you go to and are worried definitely trust your instinct and get a second opinion. We were originally under Dr. Sameer Sajwani (i think he is only pediatric anyway)at city hospital and although people raved about him, I found him unprofessional and his manner left a lot to be desired, which is why I went somewhere else, he gave me incorrect information and claimed there was nothing wrong medically with my son, when in fact it was the complete opposite. You simply cannot be too picky or careful when it come to your health, good luck.

Hi Ladies, So there's a possibility DH will be posted to Abu Dhabi and wondered what you think of the daily commute from Dubai, if anyone does it? I'm thinking its huge, tiring and soul destroying? Is that drive really bad everyday with traffic and accidents? He says no need for us to move there just yet and he is happy to commute but I worry about that trip plus a 9 hour work day would potentially be 12 - 13 hours per day? Do any of you do it or your DH? I think he would travel to just a little past Khalifa City?

You get what you pay for when it comes to things like this, if it's a special trip and you want to set up an itinery and have things planned and all organised for you, then try prestigioustraveluk.com they specialise in inbound trips from all over world to uk and Europe. I have tried many times to use holiday factory and can never get the deals or dates I want. If you want to book it solo, then I'd suggest writing an itinery of where you want to visit I.e, countries, cities within those countries and booking flights separately, then choose hotels, you can use booking.com for checking hotels and prices and then check the reviews out on tripadvisor.com of the hotels before you book, you can book one way flights so you can fly back from wherever your last stop is on your trip back to dubai, I use sky scanner.net for checking out prices for domestic European flights. Good luck.

I can highly recommend Dr Ruba Tabari, she is independent and not associated to any schools and is registered with the khda. My son has similar issues I.e. Fine motor skills, dyslexia and also on autism spectrum. It was 5000 aed for the assessment, howeve, for me worth every penny. My son loved her and she was fantastic we got a comprehensive report but what she did next was the icing on the cake. She told me to get a meeting with all of my ds teachers and she came along she basically asked them all what they thought of him and then responded to each teacher, she then told them exactly what they need to be doing to help him and what is not helpful. Some teachers were saying he doesn't listen, he thinks he an adult and they can't cope he doesn't understand he word no, which is not true, he does, but he require an explanation he needs to understand why not just no. This was the important thing for me as ds had struggled with the teachers not understanding his personality or how to deal with him and he in turn was not responding to how they were teaching him, they changed their tactics and low and behold two years down the line he is excelling in his studies. He he does get extra time for his exams and has Arabic exemption which he uses to do strategy classes whereby he learns to structure his work and concentrate on some areas he may be finding difficult. I wish you all th best I know how hard it is, for me I know it's the best thing we did. The important thing for me was that edited by egg on 08/10/2014

Hi there, just to let you know when i visited a lot of the attractions such as Luna Park are only open during the week in Australia School Holidays, we found this with many of the attractions also some are seasonal. Good thing is that for Zoos etc if you like that kind of thing kids are free at weekends. In Melbourne, pick up the Melbourne visitor guide from tourist info next to Flinders Station, there are a few discount vouchers in there. Asutralia can be as expensive or cheap as you like, we did things relastively cheaply and then threw in a few expensive trips etc. We did Great Ocean Road and it was a nice trip but the majotrity of the time you are in the car except when you stop off or stay over somewhere. Its worth a trip if you have the time, if not dont try and cram it in. For me Melbourne was not amazing i wasnt completely wowed by it, i enjoyed it and glad i visited but there was not an awful lot to do in the city. Some lovely little places just outside Melbourne worth a visit. edited by egg on 11/08/2014
