A good way to enforce this would be to fine supermarkets that sell baby formula... I was unable to feed my DS he was continually hungry feeding every 2 hours for 45 minutes a time, i was exhasuted he was hungry, it just does not work for everyone. I thought how you raised and what you fed your children was a personal decision and not something anyone else has the right to decide for you. I was pressured into BF my DS midwife family and i really wish i had just listened to myself from the start, it was not right for us, a month in and i was almost half dead from lack of sleep and DS was not gaining weight and losing it. Definitely is personal choice and sometimes no matter how much you want to do something it just doesnt work.

The same thing is happening to us.When the next years rent was due we contacted the RC who told us to wait a few weeks.Still no contact so emailed RC and are awaiting a response. We've been told by someone who knows about these things, don't want to be too specific, that in about three percent of cases the LL is money laundering and abandons the property meaning you get to stay in it rent free!! I don't think we're going to be that lucky but as long as the rent money is reserved for if he turns up and the RC know whats going on it's fingers crossed :) A Years rent as savings would be amazing but would never happen to me. Ha ha, Thanks for the info will wait a while longer see what happens. I don't seriously think it will hppen to me either but it's bit like doing the lottery,it presumably happens to someone so you never know. Ha ha yeah im praying to be that miracle :-)

Ive been using Carrem.com, (i dont work for them i promise) they have been fantastic, only slightly more expensive than a normal taxi, the cars are lovely, always arrive promptly (even earlier). You can book online but you have to give 2 hours notice thats the only downside, unless you call and they have some spare vehicles. www.careem.com Example ride = normal taxi from my house to my destination 55-60 AED Careem 80 AED. Worth it if you ask me.

My DS did but that was when he was in Grade 2, but the reason we did was because he actually should have been placed into grade 1 when we came here but they put him in grade 2, it was the best decision we made for him keeping him back a year. Good luck.

Its true, if you have kids at Raffles Jumeirah the KHDA have shut the school due to bad weather and are requesting to pick kids up or buses still leave at regular times.

Pretty sure (may be wrong) if you cancel her visa without transfer you also have to pay for her to leave the country. She needs to find a new employee and then you do a visa transfer at typing centre and get back your deposit and she has a new family?

Most international schools have Islamic lessons I think or at least my sons does. I would definitely move her if she is unhappy she will learn nothing and resent school.

I would report it to the police as a lost or stolen item. Are you needing to travel soon? If so get an emergency passport from your embassy but you need a police report and a letter in Arabic as far as I remember. Helps if you can take someone with you that speaks Arabic. If no need ASAP my sons took 6 days to be returned really quick service, cost 180 AED to send courier with DHL and an additional 20 GBP to get it returned.

An optician wont do an eye test on a child under 15 here (may be older not sure). I take my DS to Moorfields Eye Hospital in Health Care City they are very good and experienced. Last appointment with the eye drops to dilate pupils was 650 AED. We take him every 6 months for check ups.

Im dreading renewal time because i know the rent is going to go up. DH employer has never increased the housing allowance we get so im not sure how we will continue to manage renting a decent sized place as we need the room we have a family. Can see 5 of us crammed into a 2 bed apartment at the rate of these increases :-(

Really expensive here. If you are UK why not try something like the Open University, if you are disciplined enough to self study and live here? You have to have a UK address for the course material.

We had our previous maid start on 1500 almost 5 years back, she looked after DS (6 at the time) when he came home froms chool and took care of all the household chores, when she left us she was earning 2,000 per month, with food and toiletries provided. We have just hired a new lady in May and we pay her 2,000 and she just really looks after the home as DS is 11 now but she is around and generally gives him some lunch and plays games with him.

Its funny laws here, i was in an accident (car) not my fault the other party admitted responsibility to the police, the police confirmed not my fault, however, driver was pregnant they told me if anything happened to the baby i would be held responsible even if the accident was not my fault??? Thankfully, all was ok, however, i had to spend several hours at the police station awaiting confirmation before i was allowed to go.

So awful poor little thing. My DS is 11 and i still dont like him going to the bathrooms on his own much to his dismay i always make his older brother or Dad go with him or i stand outside the toilets waiting for him, he goes mad, but i just cant i still see him as my baby. Some sick people in this world it really breaks my heart. I agree with AmyAus that the paper says Rape the story suggests otherwise and i sincreely hope that this little girl somehow manages to overcome this awful experience x
