I can definitely reccomend Raffles we went in 2011 the food was amazing santa was there, decorations were lovely. Paid about 470 each including drinks 1230 - 1600. Need to book in advance as we couldnt get in last year it was all booked up :-( Raffles is buffet type, but it really is amazing food could not fault it at all it had everything.

Debenhams definitely had some when i was in think it was either the Matthew Williamson Range or one of those and there was a sale on them too. Mirdiff branch. Ill keep my eyes peeled for you. I wouldnt explain it unless they asked, i always tell my DS if he asks which is rare, that we are all people some of us are different from others but none the less still people. My DS is special, neither he nor his friends question why or whats up with him or why is he different or require any sort of explanation at 11 years old, they tend to know already but dont let it bother them, wish everyone was like that. Kids usually just accept and then if they ask just tell them not everyone is the same and if we all were the same the world would be a poor place to live. ;-)

I was so impressed with the service. Sent it with DHL on the Thursday, had it back the following Wednesday. Dont even get that efficient service in the UK ha ha. Its 150 with DHL and you can track it, then its about 19 GBP to get it returned here worth it though hassle free.

I agree with what another poster said, who says they dont get days off the maid? I know only too well how "some" maids say nthings that are completely untrue.

Ill add my experience. DS (11) has had braces for 2 years from a previous dentist, we transferred to Nicholas & Asp as we were unhappy with the treatment at previous place, they removed his braces and left us hanging for 6 months with no treatment and all the while we still had to pay the monthly fee (they quoted us 9500 for the braces). We went every month and were fobbed off with lets just leave it another 4 weeks let his mouth have a bit of a resty, the appointments take forever because its a training college, the first time we were there almost 2 hours, another woman said its the same everytime she goes. I took DS to 2 different dentists for a consulation and both said he should nonever have had braces put on in the first place he needs a modification device first, then braces at a later stage. They can move teeth at any age but if your child has a jaw issue the older they get the harder it is to do anything with it. Needless to say we stopped going to Nicholas and Asp and transferred to Dr Joy on Al Wasl road, what a difference, we have paid 5000 for the jaw modification device and the braces will be approx 7500 over 2 years. He will have modification for approx 8 months then move on to sorting the teeth out. I wouldnt reccomend Nicholas & Asp based on my experience and the fact that for a small amount more i can get DS treated by a superb orthodontist in nice surroundings at times that suit us.

Hi Maroosh, I havent tried anything for my scars except for my usual pro activ face scrub, i was scared to try anything incase it made me erupt in acne. I have used boots no 7 before i really like their 3 in 1 wipes they worked really well on my skin. I will have a read up on it. Thank you

Best palce is to try classified adverts and interview them all, set yourself up somewhere and then get them to come to you ask them the questions you want to know ask for references, usually get a good feeling for ones you like then take it from there. Try expat woman classifieds, notice boards in spinneys and arabian ranches gulf news ads? I have had both my maids from doing this and have been ok with them both, except a few hiccups which were easily solved. Good luck.

Definitely dont let her come back it will involve more expense for you, you will have to pay for her flight out of the country? Plus ou dont want her in your home if she behaved like this and lied to you. Sorry you are having to go through this, there are some rotters out there but there are a few good ones too. X

Got this from another thread?? "You need to go to Meena Bazaar and look for Rincko's. It does dying and they are really good. They also sell plain fabrics in any fabric - even swimming costume material! There are two Rincko's but the biggest one is close to Lobo Tailors just round the corner from there. Hope this helps"

Trade Centre Apartments on Sheikh Zayed Road accept pets. It isn't 5 star but it is clean if a little dated. I heard a rumour that they were stopping accepting pets. Don't know if this is true, so best give them a call. Contact the Trade Centre Apartments - Linky

Oh yeah i saw on FB there are lots of people having this problem. Im fairly gutted really i love living here but looks like it will be my last year here if they give me the contractual 90 days notice, effectively they are trying to evict a whole community the number of people who have had notices is huge over 40 apartments i believe. The rumour is they want to sell / lease to a school for their staff? Glad your friends challenged them.

I felt really bad when we moved here 4.5 years ago, i had in laws sobbing asking me not to do it. I thought my parents would be the worse but they were amazing, very supportive and very proud that i was biting the bullet so to speak and giving it a go. I was sad, but we did it for us as a family unit, it was what was best for our little family and it paid off. I do miss my family and friends terribly, but moving here was the best decision for us and i dont regret it. I cant offer much advice as i was very straight forward and said im sorry you dont like what we are doing but it isnt about you its about whats right for us.

does anyone know if this is still how you cancel maids visa, i have not done it before and this was the only information i could find? Any advice on best method and least hassle to do it? Cancellation of maid's visa in Dubai This can either be done at the airport or in advance through DNRD. If you wish to do it in advance, you need to get the 'residence cancel' form typed (AED 70+typing fees) and submit to DNRD along with maid's passport and labour card. After cancellation, you will need to go to the DNATA cancellation counter at the airport, obtain the sticker (about AED 40) and insert on form. Then obtain boarding pass and ensure departure. Or you can take your maid to the airport, obtain boarding pass and go to the DNRD office near Customs and Immigration counter. Pay about AED 80 and get the residence cancelled. Try and go at least one hour earlier than the recommended 3 hours international flight time in case there is a line for cancellation. Remember to give one copy of the cancelled form to your maid to submit to Customs/Immigration and use the other to submit to DNRD to obtain your deposit.

If I was looking for a maid and came across such an ad, I'd not for a second consider her. An ad full of demands, and about 1 line about what she has to offer. Shouldn't that be the other way around? Im not considering her its just an add i found when searching for one i clicked on it and couldnt believe my eyes. :O I bet this "maid" will be the one interviewing the employer, not the other way around loooool. Can you imagine she maybe only wants to work from 9-10 am with Friday Sunday Monday Tuesday and Wednesday as her "off days" Lol loooooool and will only baby sit at 100% extra per hour. And doesn't like to clean. Ha ha spot on :-)

Thanks for that, egg. I am really curious WHY some people here have such flawless skin, and others have such problems. I have been here for three years, I would think that my skin would acclimate and it hasn't:( I have been here 4.5 years now and the only time my skin brightens up is if i get a sun tan or i go back to the UK for a visit :-( I too have hair fall and the dubai stone (ahem +.5) :-)

Only ones near airport (if sun beds) is Hollywood Tans on Beach Road in Beach Plaza (the blue building with Burger King on the frnt) or Gold Salon (only 1 bed and 10 AED per minute). If you are wanting beds try marhaba delas they had a hollywood tan voucher 10 sessions 250 AED (8 minutes per session).

Hi, It shouldnt be an issue she has a valid visa and there is a 30 day grace period for renewing visas anyway. She will be fine getting back in and i think (maid can tell you better) she has to go to POLO office to get a clearance certificate for travel? not sure but your maid should know they know everything Lol.
