There are quite a lot of places still doing brunch this Ramadan. Suggest you give the usual suspects a call and check, but I know for definite that El Sur at The Westin is on (called the Tapas lunch, but it's a brunch)as we had a birthday celebration there last Friday. Also Maine in The Hilton Doubletree JBR is.

If this is year is anything like last year, most brunches carried on as normal (Dubai relaxed the rules on when alcohol could be served and it was business as usual). The only difference being no live or loud music.

I just received an e-mail from Plug-Ins, with the iPhone SE (64GB) on sale for AED 1,399, usually, AED 2,049 apparently. I thought that was pretty good, so please don't tell me otherwise as I've bought one!

I would assume that as they have given you a company car, they are expecting you to drive to and from work, but I don't think it is at all rude of you to ask them about the parking situation. In terms of travel time, it will be quicker to drive than to get the metro. It will take approx 50 mins from Marina to GGICO by metro, by car approx 30 mins. (I live in new Dubai and work in Festival City, which is close to Garhoud and it takes me 25 mins to drive to work).

I'm rather sceptical about this. I saw the OP's previous posts and the Dr she named and I don't believe her. I used the same Doc for my boobs and have Mentor, supported by the serial numbers that came with each implant and all the cards and support materials. The Dr is very highly recommended over here and I have been more than happy with his treatment ever since and I had mine done over 4 years ago. He is aligned to high end clinics and also Royal Colleges, hence my scepticism.

I have lived in GM9 for the past 18 months and whilst it WAS great, for the last 6 months it has been horrendous. Unfortunately the ground and mezzanine floors in buildings 7 -10 are being retrospectively demolished and re-constructed and the noise and vibrations is just awful, almost as if they are in your own apartment. Their official permit for the demolition and construction work is 9am - 6pm, however, these rules are being flouted and we are being subjected to the work from 6am, it is quite literally soul destroying (especially for those of us on the 1st floor who are directly above it). Despite having complained to Nakheel on many occasions, as well as Trakhees (the local authority), absolutely nothing has been done and the rules continue to be flouted. Even when the works do end (we think probably another 12 months), it is likely to be just as noisy as they are putting in shops and restaurants (rumour of which could be licensed, so late night hours). Sadly for me, I have another 5 months left of my contract, but I'll be out of there as soon as it finishes. If you do pick Golden Mile 7 - 10, make sure it is a higher floor, park facing. HTH. ETA: My office is in Festival City, which is close to Garhoud and at the moment it takes me 20 mins to get to the office (because of the quieter time of year), but generally it usually takes about 25 mins, so it shouldn't be a long drive to work for your DH if you do choose Golden Mile.

Our were removed, but got paid in the salary whatever benefits we had, so didn't effect us that much and it meant we could rent somewhere cheaper if we wished. There are not really any laws to protect that the benefits remains, it was pretty much do you agree or do you want to leave? Makes no sense to me when companies do this. That just means they have to pay you more in EOSB when you leave, right? No, EOSB is paid on basic salary, not allowances. So the EOSB wouldn't change unless the company puts the allowance into the basic salary category, which I can't imagine any local company would do. My salary is broken down into: Basic Salary Housing Allowance Other Allowances

A tiny bit of advertising before Net a porter hits town... Net-a-porter's been available in the UAE for Donkey's, I've been using them over here for the past 9 years  There's a lot of us in UAE who buy online from net a porter, however with their impending physical presence in this region shortly thought it may have something to do with this cheeky wee spate of advertising for another online retailer. Ahhh, I see, didn't think of it that way, but I can't imagine Namshi (that's who the cheeky poster was pushing with their spam fest) would be a threat to N-A-P, at least not for me anyway. ;)

I like Riva, always go there whenever I take a day off. In the week (sun - thurs) the price isn't too bad, it's AED 115 per person (don't know how much for children). They do have food and drink service on the beach (obvs not during Ramadan) and the food is pretty good. I'd recommend it.

If you have a HDMI cable that you can link to your TV from your computer, www.filmon.com does live streaming of most UK TV channels. It's free, but the quality isn't amazing, that being said, it is watchable, but you can pay for higher quality. Personally I don't think it's worth it and the free version is sufficient enough quality. HTH.

There are quite a few football clubs here in Dubai for those age groups that have elite teams. E-sports is a very competitive team and the only one that plays in the UAE pro-league (against the UAE professional teams.) The head is Terry Kidd and you can email him at [email protected]. While some do go back to their home countries to play on professional clubs, esports is also doing a great program to get kids football scholarships to US universities. Other really good clubs include Go Pro, Spanish Soccer Schools and Barcelona - although there are really so many clubs, I could list about 30 at the moment. The clubs will start practicing in mid-September and you can go around and meet them and try them out to see which one suits you best. Probably also important is where you live - most of the teams I mentioned play around Silicon Oasis, Academic City and Motor City so you'll want to find one that trains close to where you live. If you're here over the summer, Football Center runs a very good indoor football camp in Al Quoz and you can email [email protected] for details. Can second The Football Centre in Al Quoz, hubby says they're really good and have lots of pro coaches and academies etc. http://www.thefcdubai.com

Thanks Kezzler I appreciate that. I have looked at other R lines as there are only a couple on the market, one for 90k, 2013 model but 10,000 more kms and another for 100k similar to mine so prices are all over. I think these days as people have said, people are being more careful with their money and are looking to buy the more basic models rather that the top of the range fully loaded models. I am in no hurry to sell so can wait, I just thought someone might know of some other avenues to advertise the car. That's OK. Have you tried www.carmudi.ae and there's a new site coming soon (you've probably seen it advertised on just about every RTA taxi) called yzermotors.com, if you're in no hurry to sell, you could give it a try when it comes on-line. There's also dubaicars.com. Have you also posted any notices in supermarkets, depending on where you live, I know Park n Rob have a community board and I think quite a few Spinney's do.

Ladies, thank you for the positive posts, for those who said I am asking too much money, please comment if your facts are correct. The VW Tiguan on dubizzle for AED 77,000 is a basic model selling new for AED 110,000. My model is the Sports top of the line R model which is selling for AED 145,000 new so I believe the price I am asking is reasonable. In my previous post, I didn't want to be negative, certainly not offend, but was trying to be realistic. I work in the Auto industry (and have for many years) and there are other factors outside of the price you paid for it new (which was 3 years ago) that influence the price. The moment you drive your car out of the showroom, you start to lose money, we all know that of course. The average depreciation value used in the UAE is 20% every year, therefore, if you were basing your re-sell valuation on 145k, after 3 years the amount would be 75k. As I said, however, it doesn't work simply on the price you paid at new, there are other factors that influence the depreciation, 'desirability', mileage, how long is left on the warranty, reputation, cost of parts, is the brand offering any promotions on new cars etc etc, these can make the price you thought the car was worth go both up and down. Most new and used car dealers will not offer you anywhere near what you want to achieve as they want to make a profit too, private sale is going to be your best bet, so maybe, as Geordie Expat says, try and make the Dubizzle ad stand out a bit more. Another factor that always helps get a better price when you are selling is if you are in a position that you are buying another new car, you have better negotiating power as the dealer will probably try and give you a better trade-in price in order to secure the deal on a new car. This is usually only the case however, if you are staying with the same brand. Like I said, was not trying to upset or offend you and I really do hope you manage to get what you are looking for.

Just a brief "look up" for Uber in Dubai - seems they are those luxury black limos. one sees at the airport that are more expensive than taxis? Uber does have entry level cars (Toyota Camry/Hyundai etc), but it's main service is Uber Black, which are generally Lexus ES models. Careem is the same. I use both of them all the time and find they cost only a bit more than a normal RTA taxi (except at peak times when obviously price goes up through demand). That being said, I'd prefer to pay a little bit more as the cars turn up, are clean, driver's are polite, they have GPS, so know where they're going and it's a generally more pleasant experience. I tend to use Careem more as you can pre-book cars. With regards to using your Uber app here, it should work as SarahLou said, I used mine in Jeddah with no problem. Enjoy your trip.

I almost didn't post this because you don't want to hear it, but you are asking a lot more money for the car compared to other cars for sale on Dubizzle in similar age and mileage rages. Anywhere from 10-20,000 more. And keep in mind that Dubizzle prices are asking prices, not the final sale price which is almost always going to be lower. There's a current listing for a 2013 Tiguan (same year as yours) with 48,000km, a little higher than your mileage, but has a 5 year / 75k warranty/servicing contract and the asking price is 77,000, which means it'll probably sell for 70K or a bit less. It's not as fancy as yours but it's still your competition. Tiguans are not very popular cars and Volkswagen has lost some popularity ever since the scandal last year. If you need to sell the car you may need to be more realistic about the price, especially as the car is just about to go out of warranty / free servicing. European cars become very expensive to service and maintain once the warranty expires, which is another reason why resale prices are generally lower than you may have expected. Good luck. Perhaps you'll still find the right buyer. I also didn't post yesterday as didn't want to sound negative, but, VW have big posters on SZR offering brand new Tiguans for quite a lot less than you're asking for your 3 year old model (I know yours is highly specced, but a lot of people don't consider that a benefit when it comes to used cars sadly). As Tallybalt said, I think you'll need to re-consider what you're asking price is. Good Luck, it's tough out there.

Hi... Am looking for a good and recommended doctor for Botox for the under eye wrinkles in Dubai. This will be my first time so want to make sure I go to the right Doctor. Any suggestions pls!!! Botox isn't any good for under the eyes and most reputable surgeons would never recommend doing this Fillers can be used however the side effects of this is you get tiny lumps under the eyes which are noticeable . Depending on how bad the lines under the eyes are laser can be used ( If the lines aren't too bad) and blephorasty for very bad lines. I have had laser with good results and used Dr Allen Rezai at Elite Dubai Healthcare City he is an excellent surgeon and takes his time to explain everything. If you go for the filler option do not use Radiesse as it is too thick and only good for the lower part of the face Hi Sarahlou, Would you mind me asking how much the laser course cost? Thanks very much.

If you live in South Dubai, which is closer to hubby's work - Dubai Marina, JLT, JVT, Jumeirah Park, Springs, Meadows, Palm, Al Barsha, etc, the journey to Oud Metha shouldn't be too bad as you're going against the bad traffic. A friend of mine recently went through this. The bank froze his account, however, they didn't use any of his funds, they just wouldn't unfreeze it until he could give them a copy of his new residency visa. He gave them a copy of his offer letter stamped and eventually his new contract, but they still wouldn't unfreeze it until he had his visa.

I can't help with the visa question, however, as a heads up, a good friend of mine recently had their visa cancelled after being laid off and the company notified the bank of the visa cancellation. He also has liabilities with the bank who immediately froze his account until he can give them a copy of his new residency visa. Like you, he does have enough money in his account to cover the monthly payments, has shown them the signed contract with his new company whilst his new visa is in process, but the bank still won't unfreeze his account until they receive a copy of the new visa. I don't know which bank this is and I'm not trying to scaremonger, but just making you aware of a situation that has recently happened and that you can prepare for should this happen to you.

As Silvstet mentioned, Doubletree in the Marina has some good deals on, Maine Oyster Bar and Lounge is only 699 I think, open bar and 4 course meal. I've had no end of e-mails from hotels in the Marina with reasonable pricing; Marina Social in the new Intercon, The Scene in Pier 7 is not charging extra, just normal A la Carte pricing. Have a look at www.timeoutdubai.com, they have a guide to New Years Eve parties by price and there seem to be a lot in the Marina. Whilst traffic will be heavy getting in no doubt, I don't think it will be as bad as traffic to Downtown. Have fun wherever you end up.

It was only a debacle 2 years ago because of Sandance. Last year was no problem and there aren't any big events like that happening on the Palm this year. Most hotels have something going on and it will most likely be busy towards the Atlantis exit at the end of the trunk, but there aren't any road closures in place as far as we're aware and as residents we haven't been notified of anything untoward. Like I mentioned, it wasn't a problem last year, so can't imagine it will be this year. Everywhere with high tourism; JBR, Dubai Marina, Downtown, Palm will all be busy.

We were getting this a lot last year and it would drive me insane. It's a combination of dead skin (urgh) and the soap powder from the machine that wasn't dissolving (due to the nature of the water here apparently). We switched to using liquid detergent / capsules directly into the drum and problem solved. Not had the problem since.
