ExpatWoman Pet of the Month - Oliver & Prince

Oli and Prince ExpatWoman Pet of the Month

Attached is a picture of my two boys Oliver (ginger) and Prince (tabby). I adopted Oliver from Feline Friends and I rescued Prince on the same day from a friend who found him all alone in the garden. They are about 1 month apart in age, Oliver being the eldest and biggest! However, Prince wears the trousers! Since bringing them home they have been inseparable! They absolutely love each other! They play together, with the odd argument, sleep together, eat together, clean each other. Despite this they are actually 2 very different characters.

We call Prince a flirt! He loves the ladies! When ever a female visits he doesn't leave them alone until he gets attention from them. He loves to have his back scratched and his belly rubbed. He does a really cute meow every time he yawns. He will eat anything....even though we try to only give him cat food he is partial to porridge and ice lollies! He can open our bedroom door by jumping at the handle so we have to keep it locked, he is very mischievous!! Oliver is much more timid and shy, especially around new people. He has his hiding spots behind the sofa and at the side of our washing machine. However, he loves cuddles and is a complete lap cat! Every night when I get home from work he will fall asleep on my lap. He loves being stroked around his face especially under his chin and on his ears. He is very loving and sometimes gives you a kiss or if he really likes you he will wash you!! He loves laying in the sun and being warm.

I love me babies soooo much and they are actually travelling back to the UK with me in May, let's hope they adjust to the cold weather and the 3 dogs they will be living with!

If you want your dog, cat, mouse, hamster, horse or cockatiel to be our next Pet of the Month then email a pic and brief description to admin@expatwoman.com

Summer Rules for Pet ExerciseSummer Rules for Pet Exercise
In July and August you can still go jogging at the beach, in the early morning hours, let’s say 6 to 8 am. Let your dog walk and run on packed wet sand. It helps joint and muscle strength and decreases the risk of injury compared to dry sand, for both you and your puppy!
Cycling is beneficial to those with knee problems. Do not tie your dog to your bike, because he will get tired before you do, even if the leash doesn’t get snagged in the spokes. Read more >>

Pet owners might be surprised to learn that not all dogs can swim. While some take to water naturally, others do not. Dr. Louise Murray, director of veterinary medicine at Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital in New York City explains how to prepare first getting into the water for your pet and gives some tips around water-safety. Conditions that can make swimming hazardous include obesity, heart and lung issues, short snouts, flat faces, age and heavy coats of fur.
