I can understand the way i wrote my post didn't sound great. Yes, more questions could have been asked, rather than assuming im a sh** mum who will happily leave her child with anyone. I am not starting work anymore, will be looking into childcare for sometime yet. Thanks to everyone who did try to help. Honestly, this did make me think ''why the **** do i ask for help on here'' but as people have rightly said, this is a forum and they can choose to put what they like. I just wish people would consider what the OP is going through before jumping to conclusions. Thanks and bye.

This is indeed a forum, but people should think before they type. We are all entitled to our opionions but there is no reason to make a mother feel bad for a choice she might have to make - no one originally knew the OP's exact circumstances, but some just jumped in with very judgemental responses rather then asking a few more questions or offering help. We are not all blessed with the luxury of staying at home to mind our babies, some people have to work to make ends meet. So while of course we can all use this forum to express our opinions (so people too much so - IMO!) lets remember that it was originally established for women living as expats (away from family) to meet and SUPPORT each other. Laurab85 - I'm sorry, I have no advice to offer, but good luck with your search and with starting your job. Hopefully this thread will not turn you off using this forum for advice in the future.

Sorry ladies but groan, groan, groan!!!!! What concerned me was the OP's comment that "I need it sorting very quickly as i am starting work sunday!" It sounded as though no prior thought had gone into finding childcare. I'm sorry but that is how I read it. However, the OP kindly explained further and I understand her asking on here. Who wants a witch hunt on here. Certainly not me, for either party. Let it be and hopefully the OP will find the solution and to whom I hope you do x

I need it sorting very quickly as i am starting work sunday! I agree with your sentiments Pinkleton but please understand that the OP's original post could be read in different contexts depending on one's feelings; such is the written word and why it can be misconstrued. However, she had kindly explained further her purpose for her post and therefore is understood. Similarly, please don't misconstrue peoples responses to the original enquiry. Again the written word can be interpreted in different ways. No offence I'm going to go ahead and bite my tongue like other responders failed to do. Have a good night all. I agree with you, b/c it happened to me before, people can be inconsiderate... she was asking for advise on where to find a nanny not an opionion from all of us on what we think of her if she left her kid with one... here is my 2 cents, if u feel that "maybe" you should bite you tongue, go ahead and do it, b/c u really should... This lady made a decssion based on how people "may" view her if she left her kid with a nanny, she is vulnerable as it is, and some people thought it was ok to make her feel worst.

Oh some people make me so mad! Why do people feel the need to post unsolicited opinions about other people decisions on how to raise their children! The OP asked for help. She had an opportunity arise to step into some work and her first instinct was to come here and ask for advice on how to find a nanny. She wasn't planning on ditching the child on the curb, she was asking a network of other expats if anyone knew of someone trustworthy that could help out! Isn't that what this forum is for? </shakes head> OP, I understand you have decided against starting the new job but i think it's a great idea to come here and ask us for our advice about finding a nanny. I recommend hiring a professional nanny and a good company you can call is Eden Nannies out of London. They have prescreened candidates with 5+ years of childminding experience and all have completed criminal record checks, first aid, and numerous checkable references. No matter what you do, keep your chin up and ignore the peanut gallery. Best of Luck in your search.

Oh it is, i will look into it tomorrow. I think tbh, after my search and tears shed due to the thought of leaving him i am going to hold of going back to work (just decided, will speak to the hubby) I may just be a soppy c** but i just can't leave him yet, i don't think!!! Thanks again EVERYONE of you.

You've probably thought of this already but nursery may be an option?? If you google Dubai nannies a few websites come up, maybe try those? There's also the option of an aupair although that might take a bit longer to organize than a week. I have and i have :) I'm going to sleep on it and consider all my options. Despite what some people have posted on here, i love my son more than anything in the world, so i am not just jumping in, All i wanted was help. Thankfully most of you ladies have. It is heartbreaking enough leaving my son after spending the last 11m 24/7 (almost) with him by myside without complete stranges accusing me of, well neglect! Thank you to everyone who gave words of help and support. Goodnight all. :)

sorry hon, this was not parenting advice. If you are looking for a nanny that is a totally different thing. Maids and nannyies here are interchangeable and a nanny is much more expensive. I would think that looking for anyone to look after my child would not be an emergency....certainly something to take my time at and ...if the company that offered the job moved the time up....sorry..kids come first. And, it was you who said you did not have time to sort out a visa for anyone , not me :)....kids come first. and this is from a mom who worked.

No offence meant but I was concerned at how and why the OP was suddenly and urgently wanting to find a helper. I was merely asking the question whether she had sorted this out before securing a position. Not an unreasonable question IMO?

@Laurab85 are you looking for an agency maid? maybe try www.dubainannies.ae also getting a full time nanny/maid and organizing the visa won't necessarily take that long if you find the right person so keep trying that avenue as well @moo moo and sueB I don't think OP is looking for parenting advise, is it really necessary to come on this thread and start dishing it? Thank you very much for your comments and advice :) Yeah, i'm thinking i will go down this route now. Will find another job if takes too long. I tried dubainannies but the lady advised they only deal with children 2yr + at present.

did you post it on maids board? I cant help with agency as we found our own and went through the whole sponsorship thing etc which worked better for us, its really easy to renew and do it yourself. Do a search there are hundreds of threads, Howdra seems to come up quite good for agency maids. Good luck Thanks, but i'm looking for a trained nanny not a maid. Thanks for your help though.

Would it not have perhaps been better to find childcare first before you found a position? Didn't your prospective employer ask you about your childcare arrangements? It's a question I was always asked in an interview when I had small children. Doing research and seeing actually how hard it is to find the right person (despite what some may think!!!!!!) I have advised that the start date will have to be changed and this has been arranged.

I am biting my tongue!!!! The biting did not work!!!! ok. you are willing to leave your 11 mnth old son with a total stranger for 8-10 hours a day so you can start work..right>???????? am I the only one who thinks this is NOT A GOOD IDEA!!!! you value you son so little that yu will leave him with a stranger??? on extremly short notice, without knowing who she was/is???? hellooooo edited by SueB on 15/11/2011 edited by SueB on 15/11/2011 Why don't you continue to bite that tongue of yours. Of course i will be meeting the person and making sure they are right for my son. I also intend on a friend being with them for a few times to make sure they are okay. I asked for help finding someone not for you to tell me what i should or shouldn't be doing based on what you think. Please don't even bother responding again!!
