Review: Iris Yas Island's Saturday Picnic Brunch

We sent one of our resident foodies to enjoy this family-friendly brunch in the Capital

Being a big foodie I jumped at the chance to go and review Iris Yas Island for their new picnic brunch. Situated in Yas along the waterfront, overlooking the Viceroy hotel and many beautiful yachts on a perfect Abu Dhabi day the location had a very Monaco-esque feel to it.

Upon arrival I was escorted to my table by a friendly waiter. There was a live DJ set all afternoon, playing smooth tranquil grooves, which complimented the environment down to the T.

A variation of guests were at Iris Abu Dhabi; couples, families with young children and groups of friends.

The food on offer was nice and simple and worked very well for the time of day and the style of the brunch, more so than anything it was extremely tasty. The BBQ theme consisted of many options and choosing what to eat wasn’t easy; so me being me, I had to have a taste of it all!

As there is just far too much to list, my favourites were made to order slider burgers, amazingly well cooked and very juicy; the grilled shrimp, which was marinated to perfection with a tomato base; and the mixed salad and bean, which were presented in cool pre-made mason jars.

There was plenty of drinks on offer, chilled and made to perfection, including fresh juices, mocktails and cocktails.

The service one receives at any brunch or any other type of meal typically makes or breaks a good dining experience for me.

In my opinion, Iris’s staff offer a second to none experience, the empty plates were swiftly picked up, drinks promptly refilled and all that done with a smile on the face and an attitude you expect at any top establishment.

I will definitely be visiting Iris Yas Island again for its picnic brunch as the whole experience is very well thought-out and the surroundings make for a fun-filled afternoon.
