There are afternoon teas in Dubai... and then there are gilded, opulent affairs that turn a simple tradition into a decadent ritual.
Nestled within the elegant Fairmont The Palm, Mashrabiya Lounge elevates teatime with its Golden Afternoon Tea experience. Featuring delicate bites like Gold Foie Gras Torchon to salmon crowned with caviar, and jewel-like desserts including their Signature 24K Gold Bonbon, every detail is steeped in luxury.
Here’s my take on an afternoon steeped in sparkle and sophistication.
The Venue
Our first impression of Mashrabiya Lounge was nothing short of enchanting. As we stepped into the Fairmont The Palm’s elegant retreat, we were greeted by a blend of contemporary Arabesque design and soft sunlight spilling through onto the expansive al fresco terraces.
The scent of fresh pastries lingered in the air, while the view of the Arabian Gulf shimmered just beyond. Mashrabiya Lounge also offers an all-day breakfast menu, international dishes, Middle Eastern favourites, and fresh Arabic grills.
The Golden Afternoon Tea
The Golden Afternoon Tea at Mashrabiya is a teatime that doesn't whisper elegance, but speaks the language fluently.
Inspired by regional heritage and Fairmont The Palm Dubai's striking Arabesque interiors, this picture-perfect spread arrives in a jewellery box-style display, all intricate patterns and shimmering accents. It’s bold, elegant, and just the right amount of over-the-top, perfect for those who like their scones with a side of sparkle.
We kicked off this lovely spread with a line-up of sandwiches that range from classic to couture. We're talking Gold Foie Gras, Salmon and Caviar, and Beef Pastrami with a side of decadence. Even the Pinwheel and Vegetable Garden sandwiches feel elevated, plated like tiny edible artworks.
Pastry lovers, you’re in for a treat (or four). The Dark Chocolate Parfait is rich and unapologetic, the Raspberry & Vanilla is as pretty as it is punchy, and don’t even get us started on the Caramel Éclair. Add in warm raisin scones with clotted cream and preserves (non-negotiable), and you’ve got yourself a sweet and savoury afternoon worth clearing your calendar for.
The cherry on top? Unlimited, sustainably certified tea and coffee for two whole hours. So sip slowly, stare out over the Gulf, and embrace the gold-dusted drama. This is Dubai, after all.
