Review: Couqley French Bistro & Bar in Dubai

Looking for a Parisian dining experience in Dubai?
It's about time you discovered Couqley French Bistro & Bar, one of the most friendly and soulful bistros in the emirate, where the food is delicious, the wine fairly-priced, and the service is warm with careful attention.
This stunning restaurant is located in Mövenpick Hotel, Cluster A of Jumeirah Lakes Towers, easily accessible by car or just a short walk from the nearest metro station.
Named after one of the co-founders, Frenchman Chef Alexis Couquelet, the bistro follows after his culinary expertise, high standards, and love for French cuisine.
The ExpatWoman team had the opportunity to enjoy a stunning three-course meal, and here's how it went!
What’s the vibe? Once you walk into Couqley, you are swept into a Parisian bistro. It's the kind of eatery you could take literally anyone – a date, your family, a business meeting – they've got an interior that would suit any mood.
A children's menu is also available.
The Food
Now, let’s talk about the food. I almost don't want to give away this hidden gem in JLT!
My partner and I were recommended the calamari, and the shrimp and avocado which were both great appetizers that wonderfully lead us into our mains. You can really tell that their menu has been crafted to offer something for almost every palate, from subtle, delicate flavours to bold, colourful bites.
We both had the steak and frites as this is a popular must-have at Couqley. I opted for the mushroom sauce which served to add to the flavour of the dish, with side orders of creamed spinach and green complimenting the steaks perfectly especially as they were cooked to our exact specifications.
Desserts at Couqley
As full as we were, the temptation for dessert was too much and Couqley has a tasty selection to satisfy a sweet tooth. I had the Pain Perdu with gourmet ice cream on top. The combination of that sweet French toast and ice cream made for the kind of dessert that will have you finishing the plate clean.
My partner had the chocolate fondant that was baked perfectly oozing with chocolate sauce.

All in all, you're going to love this French bistro in Dubai as it serves up some of the most delicious modern French soul food we've had, with a warm, family-friendly approach and great vibe.
The main attraction to Couqley is the stunning indoor setting, as well as the friendly and knowledgeable staff. It certainly doesn’t disappoint and it is quickly growing to be my favourite Dubai bistro. Take our word for it: just go.
