Fancy a Wednesday dinner and a show with a lot of pizazz?
The cabaret; a tantalising genre that covers all sorts of wonderful and engaging performance art, from jaw-dropping acrobatics to positively gorgeous song and dance numbers.
At Papillon, a jazz club located in the luxurious The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina, contemporary cabaret shows are on the menu with a unique lineup of incredible multi-sensory acts across music and dance.
The ExpatWoman team had the pleasure to visit and check out the immersive live acts, mouthwatering fine dining, and all the glamour that Papillon has to offer.
We ventured inside their gorgeous space for the Madame Butterfly Night Brunch, taking place every Wednesday from 8PM to 11PM, where you'll be able to delve into three-course feasts and bottomless prosecco alongside catching some fabulous cabaret entertainment. Here is how it went!
The Venue
Papillon is a distinctive nod to the wildly elegant and entertaining affair that is the cabaret experience. The venue is stunningly decorated and has around a hundred covers so the ambience is intimate and almost feels like a Parisian jazz club.
We were greeted by their friendly and highly knowledgeable team who communicated with us on how the evening works; the Madame Butterfly Night Brunch offers an evening brunch inclusive of three à la carte courses and unlimited prosecco which is served within the 10-minute intervals throughout the performance.
The show commenced at around 9:15 PM after the restaurant was full and the staff have taken orders; once the show starts this is where the true spectacle begins. You are transported into the story instantly with singing and dancing that are as good as any Broadway or West End show.
Appearing in glitz and glam outfits, the singers and dancers appear one after the other, sparkling under the lights.
The ensemble interacts with the patrons and perform as much on the floor as on the stage which adds to the dramatisation of the story telling. It is loud, it is engaging, and it has the audience cheering for more.
The Food
All three courses were delicious. I opted for the marinated baby chicken with basque sauce, which was tender and cooked to perfection.
My colleague had the grass-fed beef tenderloin with tarragon mustard and padron peppers, served up with gratin dauphinoise and sauteed vegetables for a rich, flavourful dish.
The Details
This evening was unique, stunning, and incredibly enjoyable; we would highly recommend this as a must-try in Dubai!
