Review: Tong Thai at JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai

It's a crowd-puller of a restaurant and quite rightly so.
The UAE's Thai food scene is way more varied than you might expect. Dubai's best Thai restaurants offer the staples, from street food favourites to classic dishes such as tom yum, pad thai, green curry, satay et al.
Out of them, the Tong Thai restaurant, located at the gorgeous JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai along Business Bay, is a standout.
Hearing of its fantastic, authentic food, great service and ambience, we sat down for a meal and found out why it deserves repeat visits from Thai food lovers in Dubai.
The restaurant
Housed in the world's tallest 5-star hotel, the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, this modern Asian restaurant is the full shebang: a laidback, red-accented space with beautiful red lantern-inspired overhanging lamps. And the service couldn't be friendlier.
The Food
As the restaurant specialises in authentic Thai cuisine, they offer an impressive range of delicious curries, stir fries, salads, street food, and other dishes.
For our starters, we tucked into the Gai Satay, vegetable spring rolls, and Som Tum Jay - a green papaya salad. All the starters were delicious and were bursting with flavours.
Our main courses included a rich green chicken curry, beef tenderloin in an oyster sauce, and Pad Thai. The spicing of all the dishes was spot on and presented beautifully by the attentive staff.
To finish, the desserts were a perfect palette cleanser, and we indulged in a Thai Tea Milk Cake with Meringue and Tub Tim Krob which was a combination of water chestnut, palm seed, jackfruit, coconut syrup, and crushed ice. This popular Thai dessert worked exceptionally well together to end a 5-star meal on a sweet note.
