OK, colour me confused, but I thought Canada's Thanksgiving was on the second Monday in October?

it is! It's tomorrow. But some people eat on Sunday, some eat on Monday. So it's kinda all rolled into one thankful weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving fellow Canadians! We did our thanksgiving dinner on Friday as it was just easier with our schedules. And Yes, Simpleabc it is on Monday but it is a long weekend in Canada. Do you ONLY celebrate certain holidays ONLY on the day?

Happy Thanksgiving all! I wanted to make a pumpkin pie but couldn't find any at the Umm Sequim Spinnys. I guess all of the other Canadians beat me to it.

Happy Thanksgiving!
We had our feast last night with friends and family. Kids just finished off another plate of leftovers!
We also could not find any canned pumpkin... who bought out the stash? lol

quick Q - why are US and Ca thanksgiving on different days and are they both about the same thing?

Nope not the same. The Canadian one is being thankful for the harvest, not about pilgrims

I just bought some pumpkin at Choitrams on Al Wasl, not the one at the Co-op, the one down more towards the Burj Al Arab. They had tons when I was there! Already made one pumpkin cheesecake, but actually not celebrating for two more weeks ): until everyone's home and not working... oh well, I'm sure it will be worth the wait!!

Yes, Princess I, based around the Harvest Festival. Canadian Thanksgiving is not necessarily celebrated by all Canadians for that reason, because it does have a Christian connection. I grew up in a predominantly Jewish neighbourhood in Toronto and only my non-Jewish friends celebrated the holiday.

True but also celebrated by a lot of non-Christians as well, as its a great opportunity for people to recognise all that they are thankful for regardless of faith. They even have Halal Turkey now for the Muslims!
