Costa coffee is about to open. I would second the review about the little children's shop - lovely German products (Felix etc) perfect for small gifts. Although I did have to knock on the door to get the sleeping girl to open up!
Here you go, a website with floor plans etc

As usual for this country, it is heavy on unnecessary fancy graphics and sounds and low on usability!
I don't think so, sorry. There wasn't much open at all. And even if there was, I would expect it would be of a more international brand/flavour as opposed to local Arabic-type stuff. I think it's going to be quite a high-end mall.
There was a posh kitchen shop, I think the same chain as the one in City Center, selling Dualit, Kitchen Aid etc.
amy77, did you happen to notice if there any crystal/home decor stores open? As posted on a separate thread I am looking for something elegant to gift and am hitting a dead end with most stores here right now.
There is only one cafe open at the moment in the lovely outdoor food court area - Caffe Ver-something (the Italian chain). There are more restaurants scheduled to open though.
It was a really nice mall, it had a nice vibe to it - I like it. At the moment there aren't many shops although the ones which are coming look promising. There is a GORGEOUS German children's shop open - great for gifts and kitting out little ones' bedrooms, especially girls who are into horses or boys who are into pirates!
51 East was lovely too - didn't look at clothes, but the tech and music departments were fab!
Didn't look too hopeful when I went on Friday night, but then all shops which are still under construction are well hidden behind boards to keep everywhere looking tidy, so it's hard to tell. It's going to be a "Carrefour Market" if that helps. DH wanted to know why they don't call it Carrefour Marche!
Thanks, probably not anytime soon then. Are there any cafes or restaurants or is it just shops?

Ah, so it will only be an Carrefour Express? - was hoping I could do all my shopping there, but not to worry - will be good for good for getting milk and the odd items I run out of, until Spinneys opens up here on The Pearl.
I work for one of the retail outlets due to open there, in their marketing / comms department, and we are being told 14th Sept for purposes of our collateral. However, our facilities team who are kitting out the shop aren't convinced....so probably end of September.
They have started the new road from Shahaniya all the way into `Slopey roundabout' past QF. It says it will take 42 months......hmmmmn......that sounds very exact!!! What sounds better 42 months or 3 and a half years??!
Nothing ever happens when they say in construction Rachel - they bid and then it gets blown out by years. We came over on a 3 year contract for a major construction project here 5 years ago - I'll be suprised if its finished in the next 5 years (granted the recession didn't help but even still - there was no way it was going to be done in 3 years, or even 5 for that matter!!). :)
Six months ago according to hubby who is in construction! LOL!! Sorry - not very helpful I know but lets face it - whatever they say in construction, you can add on 6 months to 5 years and you might hit the mark!
