I am at a loss for which shops to go to....looking for something different and elegant to gift to my Uncle and Aunt when we visit them over the Eid holidays. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I have the Islamic Art Museum gift shop on my list to check out but never been there before so not sure what I will find. Thanks.

There's an expensive ceramics shop in City Centre, although to me it seemed more Moroccan style than Gulf. It's just by the entrance to the Marriott.

Head to the Pearl, I was looking recently at a lovely shop selling arabic style glassware, very contemporary but with nods to tradition, really lovely. Didn't look at prices and can't remember exactly where it was sorry so I'm not a great help, it may have been near Haagen Daz as we did stop for an icecream at one point ;).

I am looking for something like a decorative item, crystal...dont know what exactly but I do not mind spending QR 500 or so. They have a beautiful collection of things from all over the world as my Uncle travels a lot (so it just makes it that much harder) but this will be the first time I will be gifting them something so I want to it to be special. Am I making sense?!

My standard fallback gift is an arabic type box filled with individually wrapped chocolate dates. Or there's the nice Eid sweets available now - plain nougat, pistachio jubey things, sound horrid but look quite good and taste good also. Authentic too! Who doesn't like chocolate, and who can't always use a box! Nice hexagonal ones at the souq (imo of course!). For kids I go the arabic style baboushka dolls but I know a lot of adults like them too! Probably more "amusing" than "elegant" though.
