I'm discovering it's not necessarily a bad thing having some malls closed and the rest too busy to venture off to. My bank balance is benefiting from the lack of extra spending that tends to happen when we head to a mall just to have a wander. :)
Well, Landmark semi-passed... They have been given until September to rectify some issues (which I assume are not as extreme as City Center's). For example, Zara in Landmark is temporarily closing (and having a huge sale as a result) to start the work they have to do so it is done before September...
My driver told me today that in a few weeks landmark will be closed for around 20 days, maybe they are staggering the closures which would seem sensible. I also heard that by then the Carrefour at Villagio will be open again.
I understand there were rumours going around that Landmark was also closed. Seems it's only the cinema there that is closed for now.....but of course that could all change tomorrow!
haha, I was right to doubt it being that easy. Turned up at the mall this morning and all was open EXCEPT for the children's play area, which of course was the only reason we went there. 3 very sad little boys turned away at the door :(.
So it looks like the are cracking down on all the children's play areas, which of course is a good thing. I'm surprised the Mall one failed inspection, it had two fire exits and looked very safe and clean.
Is going to be a long summer if none of them are found to be up to scratch though!
it is funny, especially when its their own staff that give the wrong information!!!
although, it may have been that they were going to do it, then didnt. or were expecting to be closed, then werent. who knows.
either way, im just pleased that 'they' are making moves towards getting everywhere compliant with fire safety. am happy to be inconvenienced for as long as it takes.
lol I just rang The Mall and they said it was just a rumour, funny how I didn't think to do that first, you really get into a mindset here that nothing is that simple :)
If it was Friday morning, Spinney's is always the only shop open - the rest of the mall is cordoned off but opens later in the day. If it was later in the day or Saturday - then it looks like CD is seriously inspecting these places for safety rules/law/standard conformity - good for them.
when i was at the mall on the weekend, they had closed the mall part and only spinneys was open. the guard there told me that the main mall would be closed for 2 days (this was after we had our abortive trip to city centre). i havent been back since, so i dont know if they already got inspected and it was all fine, or if like you say kiwi, they are due to be closed again.
