Just be warned ladies - Parking is an ABSOLUTE nightmare! Went there yesterday (Thursday 12th around 3:30), and I almost left after driving round and round for fifteen minutes; and once you see a space - guard it with your life/horn!! Having said that, coming out a couple of hours later (around 5:30), there was definitely more spaces in the car park. Can't wait until Doha gets back to some sort of shopping normality!

According to Doha News the cinema is now open as of last night, but with older movies (I guess from 3 weeks ago). They should have new releases next week. I can't find a place online that shows what they are showing.

Went yesterday. 99% of the shops are open except for Ansar Gallery on the top floor, darn, and a couple of the smaller shops. Some of the empty shops are being used for excess stock from other outlets and I saw several shops with 'No Storage' signs on the doors of interior rooms that previously must have been their storerooms. Many shops seem to have reorganised their layout to give wider aisles, I noticed that in Max particularly, less cluttered stock everywhere. Laminated evacuation plans posted on the walls in many places. The retail black hole out the back where the abaya shops used to be is still, well, a retail black hole. The art shop at the QTel end of the mall has closed, that's the art gallery sort of place not the art supply shop which is still going strong. The kids play area is closed as is the food court. The food court has hoarding around it announcing a 'make over'. The bank on the C4 floor directly underneath the food court are also closed as is the dry cleaner. All the coffee shops are open, Coffee Cottage, Starbucks, TBTL etc and some food places that are outside the main food court, Pizza Hut, Nandos. Several large areas cordoned off where flooring has been removed. The staff and Sun and Sand Sports were lurking around waiting for 'clearance' to reopen the store. edited by Safiya Dafiya on 12/07/2012

Barriers down to get in but from the front it looks like all the carparking is blocked off. Just seen a security guard move a barrier to let a landcruiser through so not sure what's going on!

I have a friend who owns a business in City Center and one in Villagio. From the perspective of the business owners and the staff, it's a complete and utter disaster. And it seems they are getting very little information from the mall management (who themselves may not have much information either, to be fair). Of course everyone wants the buildings to be safe -- no question. But if policies and procedures had been followed as they should have been, there would be no need for these prolonged closures. For those of us who like to shop at these places, it's an inconvenience. For those who have lost loved ones, and those who are losing their steady source of income, it's so much more than that.

I'm not a retailer but I wondered about the financial impact this must be having on the shops and their employees in both CC and Villagio. Does there come a point where a shop would cut their losses and close? Or do they claim their losses against the LL/s of the malls?

Spoke to FF Again who said mall management keep changing what they tell them so no news, they did hint to me the closed days will be added on the to end of our membership, we paid the full years fees!! so hoping we get the closed days back, because its a British company am sure they will compensate members, its just frustrating, but lives were lost so its a small inconvenience to make sure the mall is safe!! Lets hope it reopens soon

What do you think the chances are of FF deducting the days they've been closed off next months payment? I understand it's not their fault they've closed, but at the same time I'm now paying for a service I can't use :(

At one point they did say they would be closed until June 23, and then after that they changed it to "until further notice."

Thanks ladies, for some reason I thought there was a review occuring today. I'm sure I read it somewhere but perhaps it was just "talk", I can't remember.

Dan Lou, as stated on City Center's facebook page and in the newspapers, City Center will remain closed until further notice. So unfortunately it probably will not be open again in the near future which means when it does open it will probably be too late to make your exchanges.

I live across from it. Lots of works around the car parks but the barriers on entry are still up.
