I called this school and was taken aback by the school fees - 46 000 QR per a school year! How can it be justified???
Simple - demand and supply!!! Have you not noticed the number of people struggling to get school places for their children?!
The price you have quoted for DC primary markar is not inclusive of 10,000 returnable deposit ,or 5,000 capital fee due in the first term of the year ,or admin costs. All of this is extra outlay , for DC .Making it approx 45000 in the first yr. All of which if your company isn't paying ,you have to allow for.My costs were for Secondary i.e. yr 7 upwards again a consideration for the future which comes round sooner than you expect. Beware of extra costs not just the term fee. Also consider the standard of the school. If the fees are low what are the facilities and teachers like.Good teachers do not go to badly paid jobs .They do not come to Doha for love of the job.

The cost of schooling in Doha is high in terms of value for money, and given that more and more people now have to pay there own fees. It can be debatable how worth while it is bringing your family to Doha as it often wipes out any chance of saving while your here. School fees for some schools are approaching 70,000. For example DC secondary 10,000 deposit, 20000 per term 5,000 capital fee and approx 3000 admin costs all payable before your child walks through the door.Do I think it's worth it, not sure given that the schools maintained poorly and teaching is of a very mixed standard.. Primary school fees are cheaper , however there won't be too many cheaper than 42000.
You must be joking. Average school fees for primary are about 25 000 QR in Doha. Few examples that I know:
French school Bonaparte 17 000
Qatar International school 22 000
Newton international school Lagoon 20 000
Doha College anout 30 000
Only one school is so expensive - Compass. About 60 000
From where does this strange price comes? 46 000 for primary for a new school that nobody knows!

Thanks DebK, that is exactly what I wanted to know. Mrsw2 thanks for the advice and I wasn't quite sure if it was known at all, it was hard to ascertain much from their website which doesn't seem to have the usual area on admissions.
There's been a bit in the press about this school lately. They are taking admission applications and I think are holding assessments soon. The SEC have announced it's opening and I heard/read somewhere that the school will be the "other" school building nest to the Doha College West Bay campus. Of course it doesn't mean it will open on time, but it looks like it's going to happen at some point.
They will operate an IB curriculum, in English. The company operating the school has schools in Spain, France and Ireland. I don't know any more than that and a number of people in education that I have spoken to (like DebK) have said they have never heard of the school, but admittedly they were all British educators, perhaps with the exception of one.
At this point in time I think you just have to apply to schools that have places and this is one of them. And add your name to all the other lists and keep your fingers crossed!
I have never heard of this school. As you said it is "supposed to" open in September, I would actually check to see if it has SEC approval for opening at that time. What often happens here (and schools are no exception) is that anticipated openings are delayed.
The school that I had been hired to work at was "supposed to" open in September of the one year and it was December when staff were allowed in to prepare things, and March before they were allowed to take students. I also know of places that opened without all the approvals in place and then were forced to shutdown until they obtained everything necessary.

Hi,
As most admissions for September are closed, we were given the suggestion to try Sek International school opening in September ( http://www.sek.es/index.php?section=colegios/qatar#en). Have any of you in Doha heard anything about this school?
Thanks
