Hopefully the letter is an NOC which allows her to transfer her current sponsorship to yours . Otherwise I am afraid it is illegal to have a live in maid not on your sponsorship.
You need to first have permission to sponsor a maid from Immigration and will be allocated one of a specific nationality.
Make sure you have this before offering a job because sometimes the nationality of the maid you want and the one you are allocated ( not everyone gets a choice) will not match.
Thanks guys...definately not interested in illegal maids and have already rejected a couple...this comes recommended from DMums and also has a letter which we will review today and get my husbands company to look at...needless to say if it doesn't pass the test we won't go ahead...thks for your concerns...we r equally nervous. But here's hoping
As for the air con yes we did end up purchasing a regular one...don't know what the portable One that a coupe ppl talked about were..and didn't want extreme heat to get to the room...so better this way
Thks again
EW are likely to delete your thread as what you are doing is illegal.
Not only can you be fined for employing her but she and you can be imprisoned and deported.
It seriously does happen.
A maid failed to show current RP to our compound securiry , got stroppy , they called
police over , she went to jail and is waiting deportation , employer has been fined and has a police record now which means trouble in the GCC when it comes to future employment.
Transfer her sponsorship to yours or don't employ her.
Not worth the risk.

I don't have any info on aircon other than to say I would go for the strongest and sturdiest option! We've lived in a villa with a separate outside maid's room which had a window AC -- and it needed it!
On another point, there's no such thing as a maid on her own sponsorship. She is either sponsored by an agency, by you, or by someone else (in which case it's illegal for her to be working for you). It's done -- but it's illegal and the penalties are stiff!
With the impending heat...just wondering
Just have a few costs ahead of us and we r having a maid move in tomo...shd we get one of those portable aircons...if so any brands and or sizes recommended? Or cough up for a proper new window air con...plus instal? Anyone have ideas about cost?
Someone said second hand they cost 400 just for the unit but a warranty of only five days and no idea about install
So am thinking since its a maids room with no open hallways wouldn't a portable one be enough..she is on her own sponsorship so if things work out...we can eventually sell the one and get a proper one installed
Advice needed urgently pls
Thanks!
